    SEO or Social Media. From where you get more traffic?

    Since past few years progress of social media has been really impressive. As a result webmasters are also getting traffic from social media to their website. So which has more percentage when it comes to driving traffic to your website (s)?

    I personally get more traffic from social media sites, for few reasons:
    • SEO algorithms are changing all the time and my website's keywords are in large competition with many other sites so it's hard for me to be on first or second page when people search for such keywords. That's main reason where i don't input large efforts in SEO, so i get less traffic. BUT
    • Social media working same almost all the time. I have large targeted audience and a lot of experience in SMM so it drives me more traffic and better selling conversion rates, even if i am in big competition with all others, for me it's easier way to get traffic and sales.

    I work a lot and i don't always have time to catch up with all new SEO games. Yes, to me it's games where where search engines setting their own rules, while in SMM i use my own tactics to get better success, faster.

    I am aware of importance of SEO, but for me it's too much of headache :rolleyes:

    I think any website may target on SMM in there earlier stage. As these has very good effect on indexing your site.

    Well I get more traffic quicker from social media as it can take longer to get the organic traffic that comes from SEO.

    Both are very useful to get traffic. May be social media helps to get traffic quicker but SEO helps to get better.

    This topic is somewhat confusing because social media is also part of SEO. When you post your backlink in social media, I guess that is what is called social signals which can also affect positively the SEO capability of your website. But with the comparison of traffic, it will depend on the effort that you put in promoting your website in social media. With SEO, it has a lasting effect that if you do SEO work this week, it can get new traffic for your website for a month perhaps.
