    Sudden drop of keyword ranking


    Hey guys,

    I had a site whose keyword was on position 12 till yesterday. However upon checking today my site keyword has all of a sudden dropped to number 472.

    The strange thing is I haven't done anything different to the back linking efforts and the content remains the same. I'm wondering if this is a temporary thing or if there is no way of possibly knowing at the moment? Can that position be gained again?

    It's probably just dancing, it can happen often when new links are build. This is especially seen often in newer websites. If they're dancing you should see them back to around the same spot after a few days from my experience.

    What do you mean by dancing? This is the first time that I’ve heard of that term and I don’t know the meaning. But for new websites I guess there is no stability yet that the ranking will be volatile that it is good now and not good later. Maybe you just have to be patient and do not check the ranking too often for it will only waste your time in giving you something to think about. Just work on the SEO of your site.

    When it comes to ranking of keywords, I think it is volatile and dynamic unlike the ranking of the link in the search list. That means it can be in the top 10 today and tomorrow it will be in the top 1,000. My suggestion is that you increase your keywords in your web pages and see if it will have a positive effect.
