    Google keyword planner isn't accurate. Google is tightening down on making SEO more competitive. Besides everyone uses KW planner. I don't know the solution, I am searching for this answer myself. But I can guarantee you, it is most certainly not KW planner.

    Ive seen a couple of tools that are quite impressive but I don't have $xxx every month to spend. I think market samurai was a good one but I am not sure. I do a manual KW research and only use KW planner to see traffic volume. CPC, and profitability, I determine manually. I check the PR of sites on the front page, with SEOquake . I also check the ads on the front page. Finally I check the # of search results. If its over 5,000,000 i dont mess with it.

    On a side note, G Analytics is not accurate anymore with providing the high ranking keywords for your site. If you have a site, go to analytics and scroll down to "Aquisition" and look in keywords. You will notice your top KW is "not provided". I just cant trust any of G's analytics anymore.

    There is keyword tools are available for specific search engines, if you are using Google than google keyword planner is best, or if you are focusing on yahoo than yahoo keyword searcher is best, like this there are many tools are available to choose the effective keyword for your site. thanks.

    Many people just rely on metrics from keyword research tools without putting more thinking to it.
    Especially, if you are trying to sell something, it's a common keyword research mistake.

    Having said that, Long Tail Pro is one of the useful keyword research tools I have used.
