Did you hear that Google Cameras have taken a trip recently on the Grand Canyon? Yes this is true. This search engine paired up with American Rivers, which is an advocacy group . It went live on Thursday in Google's street maps.
Why would they decide to do this? Well, Google's Karin Tuxem-Bettman has hopes that it will educate others about U.S. waterways that the advocacy group has deemed as the most endangered. They really want people to take an interest in it so it is protected.
Google used two cameras to do this. They were mounted on two separate rafts. The videos were then synced together. A crew of 20 were out for 8 days working on the project. What is even more is that now people will be able to see first hand what one of these expensive rafting trips can be like. Costs for these can range up to $3000 per person depending on duration of the trip.
