Does Google offer local news?

On my Yahoo home page, they have my local weather. I have not seen local headlines though. Does Google offer a service where users can find out local weather and news/events for their hometown area? That would be a nice feature to see added to the Google search engine, where maybe you could find out if you searched 'local news' and then entered zipcode. What do you think?

I have never seen local news either. It would be interesting if they did but I would much prefer the weather over news since I can just go to my local channels site and get the news I need.

My daughter is wanting to go out every day to the park now that it's summer. And, in our area, it goes very quickly from being very sunny and mild to torrential rains. So it's nice to have constant weather updates. I'd appreciate if Google could give me something like that too.

You can get local news related stuffs in Google.

For example, you are in UK, open Google.co.uk then click news, like this

http://news.google.co.uk/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn

You would get local news here for the UK.

Yes google offer local news and search basis of your country. .com.bd or .com.uk
