    How do you know a source is credible?

    When researching online to find sources to use as basis of written articles, how do you know a source is credible? For instance, what can you do to ensure the source has used accurate facts?

    Look for credentials of the author as well as properly cited sources. Don't just take someone's word online that something is true. Demand that a source be documented and cited before quoting it or relying on the advice.

    When researching online, usually I will only trust a .edu source as it was written by a professor or someone with proper credentials.

    I agree with you Beverly. So many people can say that they know what they are talking about and just about anything can get published at some point.

    With the source of an item that I want to include in my write up, I check on Google for the name if the person is not a known writer or celebrity. But when the item is not very critical, there’s no need to verify if the source is credible or not. Just like mentioning a kind of vehicle that is still in the testing stage, it’s not a critical fact so the source need no verification for credibility. But when it is something about health then I guess the credibility of the source is very important.
