When placing an order, does a quantity of 2 equal 2 sales?

Some of the staff are currently in a debate about how to analyze sales daily. The Clerks Nation is definitely growing at an enormous rate but we want to know and track our growth. So, we are trying to figure out if an order is placed and the buyer purchases a quantity of three from the same seller, then does that count as three orders or just one.

During the debate I wanted to gather more information from another market that is all about sales so I called one of our local car dealerships. I asked to speak to the sales manager and they connected me to "Allan". I asked Allan if he had a minute and being the good car salesman he is replied "of course". I came right out and asked him "if I come down there and buy two cars from the same salesman, is that considered one sale or two sales when you do your end of year stats?" He told me that it was considered two sales because they had to negotiate two different payments, create two loans, and create two credit reports. At this time I think he thought I was in the market for not just one car but two and he asked me why I was asking. I explained to him the predicament we were in and he completely lost interest, just like a good car salesman would lol.

Although I appreciate Allan's attempt at assisting us, our question still remains. We would love to get input from the Clerks Nation!

I'd say it's 2 sales but should count as 1 feedback. (if the buyer leaves one.)
I personally can't see any difference in a customer buying 1 service per day for a week or only 1 service the first day of the week (quantity: 7) and nothing more for the rest of the week.

Quantity 5 = 1 Order/Transaction
Quantiy 5 = 5 Sales

I think some people have a different/opposite definition of sale/order so that may have to be factored.

My reasoning behind this is that when I think of for example if someone went and purchased 100 individual cans of Rockstar Energy that it would be 100 sales because it's 100 products that although the same are completely separate items from each other. Quantity on SEOClerks is really no different but it can feel more singular due to the fact it is digitized and represented by only the change of a number and not a whole new physical item.

When it comes to the payment, be it for for physical good likes the Rockstar Energy or Facebook Likes on SEOClerks, no matter how many of each you purchase in the end you only make that single transaction/order.

Just my thoughts.

Order - request (something) to be made, supplied, or served.
Sale - the exchange of a commodity for money; the action of selling something.

Not sure if that helps greatly but based on that, I take multiple quantities to mean multiple orders yet it would still be 1 sale/transaction. For example, if you order 5 qty of something, you need 5 orders.

If you took away the ability to order multiple quantities, that 5 quantity order would instead result in 5 separate orders.

Not sure if that helps greatly but based on that, I take multiple quantities to mean multiple orders yet it would still be 1 sale/transaction. For example, if you order 5 qty of something, you need 5 orders.

If you took away the ability to order multiple quantities, that 5 quantity order would instead result in 5 separate orders.

I still view them with an opposite definition to how you describe, maybe that's just me. I see it is as you're placing an order of 5 but you're not placing 5 different orders to get those 5.

Maybe sale and order have the same meaning in this sense, except order is more for when you pay then get the Service after and Sale is when you get the money and give them the product. Just a thought.

Just wanted to clarify I said the opposite of this, I was saying that I think quantity 20 should be considered 20 sales but it's only 1 order as in you're placing a single order of 20. This would not mean 20 feedback or anything crazy like that.
