    As of yet, there are still no solutions. Best thing would be to move to new sites. How to recover Google EMD Update?

    That's simply not true! Most EMD's that were penalized and punished were low quality sites. Google never went after ALL the EMD's out there. Only those that had a low quality on-page and off-page SEO score. So if you have an EMD that has been hit, the thing to do would be to SEO that site. That means adding lots of great content to it, some external high authority links pointing out and lots of great high quality off-page SEO as well which includes things like high quality backlinks and social signals too. If your EMD doesn't have this it will be much more likely that it will receive a penalty as the EMD update is still ongoing even to this day. But those are the ways you can help to recover it and or prevent that from happening to it.

    The whole point of the FAQ is to discuss and share things openly in public. If you have something to share with people about EMD's share it in the FAQ. Asking people to PM you to get that information means you're likely going to ask them to buy one of your services or something which is fine but it's much better to share what you have to say in public and then link to one of your services if it is a helpful one giving people the choice to decide for themselves if it's something they want to do or not.

    Yes I remember the tweet by Matt Cutts announcing their new algorithm which was called EMD UPDATE. The EMD update was a filter that makes an attempt at preventing low quality EMD sites from ranking high simply by their domain name only. Having and EMD could help you rank high quite quickly for something by its domain name only. You could have probably seen this update coming in time though if you know what Google was like at combating web spam. And knowing Google, the EMD update was something they would be continually working on and improving over time. But it's worth mentioning that the EMD update didn't necessarily target all the EMD domains out there. It was more going after the ones that were low quality sites because usually most EMD sites are low quality in some way. It was well known that an EMD domain would usually allow you to rank for its respective keywords quite quickly. Many webmasters and SEO's took full advantage of EMD's and would put a few articles on them and some Adsense ads and that would be it. But some of the EMD sites were still good quality sites, had a lot of useful content on them and a good link profile, backlinks and social signals. So it didn't punish all EMD's. The EMD's that did get hit and punished usually had something in common and that would range from thin content, bad on-page SEO, no backlinks and no social signals either. Where as the EMD's that didn't get hit were those sites that had lots of unique images on the different pages/posts. Other content on them like YouTube videos etc and had quite a fairly big social presence as well. So what does this tell you? That if you have an EMD for something, it needs to be quite heavily SEO'd both in terms of on-page SEO and off-page SEO. Having a range of good high quality backlinks and social signals, shares, likes, +1's, tweets etc etc etc. So if you do have an EMD domain, don't let it sit idle and go dormant. Do some high quality white hat SEO on it and add some social signals to it all the time and it will have less chance of getting penalized and punished in the SERPs. How to recover Google EMD Update?

    I think the update on the exact match domain was to prevent low sites from ranking high simply because of their domain. But I guess we do not have to worry about this because the penalty, if we can call it penalty, is only bestowed on low ranking sites. Take note that SEO work is the activity that we need to boost the ranking of the site with the search engines and not the domain name.
