Will Facebook Comments Increase Your Rankings?

I have a question for you all SEO experts out there.

Do you rank higher in search engines, for instance google, by allowing Facebook Comments on your site/blog? What I mean is, as the owner of the website or blog. Will you increase your rankings by allowing others to comment using facebook comments? (This is some plugin people are using, you should understand what I mean, hopefully Will Facebook Comments Increase Your Rankings?)

The only reason I can find, for them to be useful, is that you'll get more content on your site, and that could possibly be the reason a website might increase in rankings?

Let me know!

Yes I understand what you mean, by using the Facebook comment plugin or comment form on your site so that people can place comments on your sites posts/pages etc by using their Facebook page. But from an SEO point of view, the Facebook comments don't provide any more additional ranking benefit than using any other comment plugin or form on your site and that includes the standard Name/Email/URL commenting form. The plus side to using Facebook comments option though is that each new comment would be seen and counted as a social signal so you get that benefit from it but nobody can say for sure that social signals play a role in ranking although I think they do.

But like you've said, the way that they help you is that it's free content for your site. But that happens regardless to which commenting plugin or option you're using whether it's Facebook, Disqus or something else. I prefer to use Disqus as that lets people comment using a range of different social media sites whichever one they're logged in with and prefer to use and it will still show up as a comment on your site.

Thank you for your answer Mike, I appreciate it. So, none can state the actual truth about this? I do understand that google never would release a step by step blueprint on "how to rank your site properly", but I thought that one could have some sort of insights at least.

I do understand your point regarding the comments in general, I appreciate the clarification though Will Facebook Comments Increase Your Rankings?

From another perspective then.. If you are the one making comments. If you include your website url. Do you benefit from that, like you've done previously when it comes to backlinks?

Well that is my perspective of whether using FB comments or not provides any difference in ranking. Whichever commenting option or platform you have on your site. They will all do the same thing in that they handle the comments for you, replies etc. But if it's true that social signals do play a part in your ranking, then using the FB comment form would be a signal for each comment and like/share etc that it got. And obviously if you've got a lot of comments on a page/post then that's a lot of social signals. But again, that's why I like to use Disquss plugin on WP sites because it provides more commenting options than just FB.

And yes if that page is where your website URL is is crawled and indexed by Google then it will count as a link. Whether it's hyperlinked or not. However, The FB comment option is just an an iframe and these comments only appear on the users profile if they tick the box to say "show this on Facebook" and not all peoples profiles are public and are crawable by Google. But they are added into the sites comment database too though and show on the page still so would still count as a link from that page.

I think that there is nothing to lose to leave those comments on the site. Even though they might not actually help you from a ranking point of view, you will still be showing that people have bought from you, or checked out what you offer, and that you have followers. Possibly they could be what people will be looking for as a form of recommendation. Apart from the fact that as you said it is more content for free for your site.

Hi hitmeasap I understand what are you trying to said? You are taking about Facebook comment plugin, where other people can comments on your site by using their Facebook profile. I think this type of comments will not affect as search ranking as much as our expect. Rather this type of comments will show as social signal on your site. Yes I would like to say with EliteWriter there nothing to lose, if you get such comments. Rather it will helpful to involve may people by Facebook comments. And this way you will get some facilities from them.

Thanks by Ajlancer

I don't really know the answer to this, but logic tells me it will increase your rankings. Any engagement on your website will increase rankings, so surely Facebook comments on your website should better your rank. Also the more social activity the better, so this would also increase.

I believe facebook comments increase your ranking. You will have more content on your website if you allow facebook commenting. Long content is one of the marks for rank. When you allow facebook commenting, there will be more engagement on your content. Engagement is always good from seo perspective.

You have said it yourself that Facebook comments will increase the contents of your website. Since contents is the primary element for the evaluation of search engines then it equates to an increase in ranking. And lately, I have read that social signals are now part of the search engine parameters for consideration in the inclusion to the search list. That means any comments coming from social media has a value in terms of search engines.
