    PayPal no longer being accepted in Turkey

    If any of your customers/clients are from Turkey and they pay you via PayPal, youll have to find an alternative payment processor. I received this letter from PayPal today:

    Effective from Monday 6th June 2016, our customers in Turkey will no longer be able to send or receive funds with PayPal. Customers will still be able to log in to their PayPal accounts and withdraw any balance on their accounts to a Turkish bank account.

    Effective Monday 6th June 2016, our customers in Turkey will no longer able to send or receive funds with PayPal, but will still be able to log in to their PayPal accounts and withdraw any available balances.

    This is why:
    We have no choice but to suspend processing payments in Turkey as our application for a Turkish payments license has been denied by the local financial regulator (BDDK) and we have been instructed to suspend our Turkish business operations.

    I must have missed this completely so I appreciate that you've posted this information. Even though I live in Sweden myself and only a handful of times per year have dealt with Turkish people, this is still very important and useful information further on. Paypal have always been the "best" payment processor for my business but when things like this happens, you should really have a backup plan.. robertman11, have you come up with an alternative yet? Or perhaps you're not dealing with Turkish people either, so this won't affect your own business?

    I have a few Turkish clients which is why I received an email from PayPal about it. I can also accept Payza and I have a WePay account setup so they can pay via credit card. I don't have enough clients from that country to be too concerned about. I bet everyone in the country that uses PayPal is going to be extremely upset though. I know I would be.

    You brought up a good point though. This could happen in any country. Sweden, the USA, Germany, anywhere. It is foolish to rely on any one thing that can kill your business in an instant.

    I see. How nice of them to send you a message where they basically tell you that you won't be able to get money from your clients using their system anymore.. PayPal no longer being accepted in Turkey

    Joke aside, it seems you have it all covered with your backup plan. And just like you said, it is foolish to rely on something that can instantly kill your entire business.. Which is exactly what would happen to me, if this would have happened in Sweden. I'll probably need to look at some alternatives too, just to be safe.

    Exactly, it's essential to have backup plan for number of reasons. You never know what can pop up from nowhere to disturb your online business or even get you out of business. Lucky we have different options to choose here at Seoclerks, so i hope they are enough to go around if this happen to other countries too. Also thanks to Robert for bringing this to our attention regarding Turkey.

    Thank you for the information. I was not aware of it. I used to think that PayPal was the best option, but it is not that great for a number of reasons. I need to learn on other payment options as I only have this, and as you said you need to have a backup in such cases.

    From the last paragraph of your article, it revealed that actually, it was not the fault of PayPal that payments won't be done in Turkey any longer. PayPal is one of the most effective means of online transaction around the globe and it is a sad situation for those living in Turkey.
