What is the meant by alert actually?

Hi guys ,
I just want to know what is meant by Alert actually? Is it same as our english dictionary alert or not, and what for this alert will come to us, pls tell me guys, as per me when ever a order comes then we will get a alert,but these im getting the alerts, ut not theorders, so i just want difference between them.

alert is just a special funcnality in seoclerk when you create your profile and choose your skills so when anyone create any WTB or WTS they just notified you that the content is related to your skills ?which you may have to complete by you.
