Are Internet directories still important for SEO?

Essentially, I think you're right that editorial links would be more likely to have more "emphasis." The reason being that they're just harder to get and more natural. Plus, some directories get so deep in their URL structure that crawlers may never even reach your link (once again, see the article)

If you've got some free time go ahead and add a site to some directories. Just make sure they're semi-reputable and don't expect them to do as much as they used to.

Yes they are very much essential or you can main part for an seo because it tells you have constant overview of what you are doing and it is very helpful. You can ask any seo expert how it leads for your site to grow big. You can imagine a site without internet directories.
