The ultimate goal of an ordinary website is the traffic especially if the website is monetized with ads. But for a business website, it is usually the business or transactions that is the priority and not the traffic. With the search engine optimization of the website, the link can land in a good position in the search list. For example, if your business website is about a hotel then you get an advantage when someone searches for a hotel in your area and your link lands on the first page of the search list and much more if it is the number 1 link on the list. The searcher will more likely click on your link and check on your website. That is already a prospective customer.
