    It's all about quality and not quantity. You'd have to have a lot of traffic, well defined high PR backlinks for your site to begin to go up.

    I don't think there is a specific number of backlinks you need for this.  For instance, the higher ranked pages will be worth more when it comes to backlinking.  So if you could give five pr 9 backlinks, that would be worth maybe 100 times more than five pr 1 backlinks.  Just go for the highest page rank pages you can find.  Get backlinks from those.

    You should have quality content as well as do follow backlinks that must have atleast pr4 or 5 to increase PR rapidly.
