No matter if you're an investor or you're trying to start your own business with great employees, you need to invest in the people and not the business itself if you want to be more successful down the road. You're doing this because the people behind the scenes are the ones who are going to make your business great instead of something that is easily forgettable.
People run businesses all the time, and they have great teams in place to manage everything, but they definitely fired people along the way and now have something in place that helps them be more successful. Yes, you'll likely need to fire people here and that throughout the years, but it's necessary if you're the business owner and want to be successful quicker than if you kept everyone employed.
In this discussion, I'll go over a few things you need to remember when it comes to investing in the people, not the programs, that will make you more successful.
The service is only as good as the person running it
No matter what you're buying, it is only as good as the person who is running it, and that even goes across every business online or offline. You could be purchasing an SEO service or buying a coffee pot online if they're run by lazy people or someone who doesn't know what they're doing, the product or service will be less than great.
The service will only be as detailed and perfected as much as the actual person doing them is. The products you find in stores or online are only as good as the people designing them. Dedication is key and it's needed in order to run the best service or sell the best products, so remember that.
Knowledge, experience, and dedication are what you want
Understanding what you're going to do, knowing what you're going to do, and actually dedicating yourself to the product or service will show when the end results are something the buyer or seller is happy to send out.
Digital services will all say they're the best, so you'll have to figure out who is the best if you're bringing them onto your team, but you shouldn't have to go too deep through here if you want to find someone credible. If you're looking for the best manufacturers, just look up some online reviews and get a good idea of who to work with and who to avoid.
Online reviews are key to filling your team with the best people or companies possible, so just do your research 
Know someone is smarter than you
If you can wrap your head around the fact that you're not the smartest person in the field of your profession, you'll either work harder to be more successful than anyone else, or you hire the smarter people that you don't want to compete with lol.
Don't see smart people as an obstacle, see them as a goal for yourself to overcome, and you'll be more successful down the road
Strategically fill voids within your own skill set
If you can design the absolute best website in the world, and the scripting, as well as the designs, are flawlessly put together, you might not be the best at online marketing or just talking to people over the phone.
To fix this, you need to bring someone on board that can do things you're not comfortable doing, like marketing or just talking to people each day and boosting your business for the better
In conclusion
If you know that you can't do everything yourself, you likely have the mindset that's needed in order to be successful, so start investing in the people you surround yourself with instead of the programs or services and you will start to see your business building for the better

True, there are a lot of programs coming out that are killing jobs, but you should still invest in the person if you're trying to build a company that doesn't rely on robots :D
Some things killing the web design industry are services that help someone build a website with a simple drag and drop type system to build a page or an entire website. Web designers have probably seen their sales drop over the years because now everyone can get a website up and running with these builders or just a simple and free theme for WordPress. They just have to purchase their domains, hosting, and wait for everything to be linked together before they upload the systems or themes. Some big hosting companies actually have website builders for their customers, which aren't the greatest builders, but it lets people try out website design and decide if they need something custom or not.
Another thing that is hurting jobs is automated chat bots since we don't need people to interact with visitors that are on our site and the moment. We can adjust our chatbots in a way that it will respond to our potential customers in a way that increases our chances to profit. Some chat bots actually work pretty well and boost conversions through simple responses :D
