Of course it's possible but when I'm researching keywords, I avoid ones that show wiki on the front page and move on.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You can never outrank wikipedia on the given keyword. For example, when you search Nepal, the first thing that appears is wikipedia page on Nepal. If you use Nepal as your primary keyword you will never out rank wikipedia. However, you can use a long tail search term including Nepal as the primary keyword and you can out rank wikipedia. For example, you can drill down nepal into politics, people, places etc.
With these possible keyphrase you may outrank wikipedia, for example
Communist war in Nepal
Places to see in Nepal
You can already find articles on these topics, but you still have chances to out rank them if you write more informative contents.
