A lot of people getting into websites for blogging, making money online, their company, or building them for clients might not know what to do right away. You could think that it's difficult to get a website up and running if you've never had a website before, but in reality, it's not that difficult to do if you know a few things. I myself love WordPress because I'm a horrible programmer, I actually don't consider myself a programmer because I don't know enough to even get a basic javascript coded up lol 
By using WordPress I can avoid having to be a programmer, or even a designer, because everything is already coded up for me and I can usually do a drag and drop type website that allows me to customize whatever I want.There are big corporations like Wix and Squarespace that allow you to do a drag and drop type website, but they are limited because you can't use them on your own hosting. This means you don't really have access to your code and you will likely have a footer link to their homepages if you're not paying a premium for your "hosting". If you pay for a simple and cheap $4 a month hosting plan, you can then upload your own WordPress theme and customize it however you want Of course, it will take some time to figure out how it all works, but everything to do with websites has a learning curve so you might as well get used to it now. Setting Up Your Hosting
Hosting can be a tricky thing to purchase because of all the numbers and limitations that show up when you're trying to pick the best plan for you. If you're just starting off, you won't usually need a large hosting package and you should be just fine with the cheapest shared hosting plan that is offered by the hosting company you're wanting to sign up with. Think of it this way, if you outgrow your shirt, you buy a new one and wear it right? You don't just wear the same shirt even if you outgrow it, you replace it with a bigger one so it feels better and works for you. Hosting is the same way, you can outgrow your shared hosting plan and upgrade to a bigger one. Sometimes the hosting company will transfer your website for you but usually, you'll have to move it on your own. If you know what you're doing, just transfer the files to your new hosting account and change the nameservers if needed. If you don't know what you're doing, hire a programmer to do the work for a few bucks and they can transfer it relatively quick Picking your hosting can be difficult because they all say they're the best. I recently changed gears and now put a lot of my websites, and my clients' sites, on NameCheap because they have some of the best support I've worked with in a while. I strongly urge people to avoid GoDaddy because their servers are garbage lol.Custom Design Misconceptions
You don't need a custom design to be seen as the best in the world in your industry!!!!! I hate it when a potential client says "If I don't have a custom design, I can never make as much money as my competition" which is so wrong. Some clients even think that they need a fully custom design in order to rank better in the search engines, which is a huge misconception that is probably being pushed by design companies lol. Having a great design that is 100% custom is always a nice thing, but it's not always a necessary one. I have a few custom designs, but only because they were initially working through a WordPress theme and after they showed potential and profits, I hired a designer and programmer to do a custom design. Even then, after a website is profitable, I don't always set up a custom design because it's not needed. Most of the time you can brand a website and company that uses a WordPress theme because each theme can be customized for your niche and not many other businesses will be using it. This means you're still going to be unique and custom in the eyes of your visitors since they haven't seen a theme like yours before.Using Wordpress and Premium Themes
When you use WordPress, you're uploading a content management system in order to start blogging. But what a lot of people don't know is that Wordpress, which was originally a blogging platform, has evolved into a full-fledged website system that can make you look like a professional overnight Sure, you can still run your website simply as a blog and make some money, but WordPress is so advanced today that you can set up whatever you want and dominate a niche. You can hire a person to do a custom WordPress theme, but all you really need is a premium theme with your own images in order to be taken as a professional within your niche I like using ThemeForest when I'm in the market for a new theme because they tend to be cheaper. Now, don't think that cheaper is bad because when it comes to ThemeForest it just means they aren't taking as much per sale from the designer compared to other big theme selling marketplaces like templatemonster. You can always go over to templatemonster and purchase a theme, but you'll likely pay twice as much as you could if you just went over to ThemeForest lol.Adding Content is Simple
Since you now have WordPress setup on your website, you can easily add content to it. You will basically be adding content to your blog and publishing it. You could also make new pages and link them into your menus, making the content more of an integral part of your website and not a blog post, but that's not really needed. Posting to your blog will be easier than making a new page since it's set up for publishing content. You will also need to optimize your content in order to get higher rankings within the search engines. If you're not optimizing your content, you're just leaving money on the table since you won't usually rank for the keywords you want to. Focus on your titles, descriptions, header tags, alt tags, and keyword density in order to have the best content possible added to your website. After a bunch of posts, you will notice some traffic flooding into your website, without you having to pay a single penny for it In Conclusion
Setting up a website isn't as difficult as a lot of people think it is. Sure, you can hire a programmer and designer thousands of dollars to set up a custom designed website, but that's not always necessary. You can easily set up a WordPress website with a premium theme and then customize it with your own images.
