Do you display adsense ads when you promite an affiliate product?

There are two primary ways on how to monetize a website - by displaying ads from an ad network like Google Adsense or to promote an affiliate product. Both are very profitable if you have a lot of traffic.

A lot of people say that you get a lot more from marketing affiliate products. And that's quite true especially if you have a lot of visitors who are willing to buy. Couple that with a high-priced affiliate product and you've got a winning formula.

However, I see certain websites that combine both Adsense and promoting affiliate products. I've read though that this is not a good practice especially when it comes to making money. Some so called experts say that if you still include an adsense ad on a page where you promote an affiliate product, there is a chance that customers would click on the ads rather than the primary affiliate product being promoted.

What do you think is the best practice?

Both ways can work. Obviously, there's a chance that people click whether one or the other, but it also depends on the customer preference. Anyway, you will be monetizing your site, which is your main goal, so if you have the chance to use both, then I would say that is the best option. Maybe a good idea is to check the pros and cons of them, then choose one based on the fact that will help you get to your goal effectively.

Hm, I can't say that I have heard of the experts advising against using AdSense combined with affiliate marketing. In fact, most of the articles I have read so far encourage it because it increases the chances of you making money.

I have been placing AdSense ads and using affiliate offers and it is working so far. I haven't had any major disadvantages.

I believe the two would still bring money whether the click on Google ads or other advertising network ads.

For the mere fact that the two can be used on one problem is a good advantage. Visitors can click on any one for profit.

If I have some of the affiliate links on the page. I try to avoid using the adsense. The reason being it distracts the users. Also the earning from the adsense ads is very less. And on that point you can see that promoting the product takes a lot of time so better to make use of the affiliate links on clean website. That does help build up your store. And it can be really good in many ways for establishing the affiliate based websites. I have learned that people who make use of the affiliate links on the page are going to have their share of the mistakes so having a good platform takes time though.

I think using a combination of both will give you the best bang for the buck. It is just one of the ways you can find the sort of options you need when you are looking to make income on your blog or website. It sounds really easy actually. It is a wonderful way to be able to combine both accounts.

I think that you're going to get the best results by combining them. The fact is that you're not going to know exactly what each person is going to desire or click on when they see an advertisement. Some could have an interest in what you're promoting through your affiliate marketing program, while others might not care for it but find interest through advertisements in your AdSense program. By combining both I think that you are improving your odds. This could be a mistake as far as I know, but logically it seems like the best way to go.

Combining the two is probably the best thing to do. That way you can try and maximise your revenue which will help you a lot. Your main focus should be promoting your affiliate products but having Adsense advertisements on those pages/website will be good to make some extra money on top of your affiliate earnings as well. However, try not to overwhelm your users with too many advertisements because that may drive them away which will end up meaning you lose out on ad revenue and affiliate revenue.

I have an affiliate store, I also have blogs and websites where I promote affiliate products. I use adsense ads on my affiliate store and blogs and websites. Adsense works well will affiliate marketing. I am using Adsense, Amazon, Commission Junction, Linkshare on my affiliate store and blogs.

I actually display Google AdSense on the same website I use for promoting affiliate products. Google allows me to include not more than three affiliate links together with three AdSense units on each page of my website. It is not against the rules of Google to include links on all of your posts or pages. You can use your website, your brand to earn as an affiliate and as a Google AdSense Publisher at the same time.

I do both. I think the theory mentioned by the OP is bunk personally. No disrespect intended. If a site visitor lands on one of my pages, which has adsense enabled and sees an adsense ad which is advertising t-mobile or an apple i-phone - and then notices an affiliate ad advertising zombie or halloween t-shirts - and they have interest in buying a horror themed t-shirt and not switching phone carriers or purchasing an i-phone - then they're going to visit the affiliate website regardless. Because at the end of the day, it's all about what the visitor is interested in at the moment.

I agree with you. If the visitors click the adsense ads instead of affiliate ads, the publisher will still earn money. He might earn more if the affiliate product is sold and earn less from the ad click, but earning is earning, it does not matter how you are earning.

I am planning to go on affiliate marketing to earn money. But the advice I got was to have my own website that I will use for my platform for the products in my affiliate marketing activities. That website can also be monetized and the more traffic I get, the more earnings my site gets from Adsense. I think that is a good strategy like getting a double earning from the set up of my site.
