There are roughly 2.5 billion people using social media in some way shape or form. Now that doesn't mean that each of them has a Facebook profile, twitter account, pinterest board, LinkedIn profile, etc. It just means that they are on social media, on at least one platform. With the increase from year to year, it's predicted that there will be closer to 3 billion people using social media on a regular basis, so this means that you should be getting the ball rolling on your social media marketing... If you haven't already 
Social media is actually a powerful tool that will help bring in customers. You will be able to connect with them on a personal level and they love that. You can contact them directly, in real time, as soon as they comment on something. This will increase the chances of turning them into a customer as well as all the lurkers watching your conversation
There have been plenty of brands that have become successful due to social media marketing. There have also been plenty of companies that wasted plenty of money on social media marketing because they didn't do it right. Don't be one of the companies that fail at converting social media users into your own buyers. Avoid the 5 mistakes below to help you along your way
1. You're committed to too many social media platforms
Now you may be thinking "Wouldn't it be better to target more platforms?" and it's actually not. It's not the best idea because you'll be stretching yourself too thin while also having to do other things for your business, like run it lol. Now if you can bust your butt on a few social media platforms so that you can make enough money to hire someone to only do social media management, then that is when you expand into other platforms. Until then, focus on your top 3 and be the best you can be on them
2. You're neglecting your loyal followers
So many times you will notice that a business will get on a social media platform and get it's first wave of followers. This is great, but only a few will be loyal. These loyal followers need to be treated like they're an employee because they could be doing a lot for you and you don't even recognize it. Watch for who's commenting, who's sharing, who's answering other peoples questions before you can get to them, etc.
The loyal people will be the ones who purchased from you and loved your work or product so much that they will come back to your page numerous times to like, comment, respond to others and even defend you when someone has something negative to say about you. Treat your loyal following like they're employees and security guards at the same time, and they will show their loyalty by purchasing and referring others to your website or business
3. Having the same voice as other brands
No one wants to see a website act just like a big brand in the same niche. It's like you're the little annoying brother of the big successful sibling in the family and you want to be just like them. People will see this and instantly go with the big company who has their own voice.
You will need to be yourself because people will see this as unique and that you're paving your own way to success. No one has 10 friends who all act the exact same and do the same thing, they have various friends who get along with each other, and that's what you need to be like. Have your own personality and voice in order to be your own big brand
4. Ignoring all of the data that is right in front of you!
Ignoring the data that is in front of you is like blindly throwing money in the air and hoping you profit from it somehow lol. One of your main jobs should be sifting through the mounds of data in order to increase your conversions, bring in more traffic, make your website more user friendly, make your social media profiles more inviting, etc.
If you're not sifting through all of this data, you're already falling behind the big corporations who are. You have access to the same social media tools that they do, so use them already!
5. Not really understanding your target audience.
This really annoys me because people will come to me and say "My business snapchat account isn't selling record albums as much as I would like!" and I say "No Sh*t! Snapchat is full of kids and people who are more modern who don't want a record album!"
Figure out what your target audience is and then match it with the right social media platform. If you don't know how to do this, stick with Facebook since it's a melting pot of all ages, cultures and hobbies.

These are 5 things you need to focus on when you want to be more successful when it comes to social media management. If you're committing any of these social media crimes, you need to stop before you do too much damage and it can't be fixed.
