How Do You Avoid Or Prevent Getting Plagiarized?

I once came across a site that was very peculiar, in that it was the second one in the search results of the keyword of what I was looking for, and all articles in it were the exact word for word copy of the site in the first result. Before that, I never even knew it was possible or even worth it for someone to just pull entire sites of content and use it in that manner, but after more research I learned that it was more common than I initially thought.

Now that I have my own blog, I sometimes worry if that will ever happen to me. Do you guys take any preventative measures to protect your content or do you just wait until someone actually does it and just take action then? I've heard of Copyscape and am thinking of just using that, so I'd also appreciate if anyone here can share their experiences with it.

When I want to write my blog content, I just research to update my knowledge and I close the tab and that is it.I then write the topic my own way, ,pattern and style.

This is why it good to always choose a niche you have good knowledge of so that you wouldn't be struggling to write or come up with what to write.

Nothing is good in blogging than to come up with your own unique content, you'll be doing your blog and business, a whole lot f good.

If you're not still in doubt you can use software like Grammarly and content checkers online to check your work.

I don’t think there is a way to prevent people from using the contents of your site be it a blog or e-magazine because readers can just copy with a click of the mouse. There are some sites that blocks the right click of the mouse to prevent the content from being copied but there is a way to go around it. My take on plagiarism is to forget it for it will only distract you from producing good contents.

I have managed to make use of the Tynt javascript option. And they did show me who is copying my content. To some extent all of those tricks worked. And you can avoid some of the basic type of the copying. But in the long game you'd find that those may not be working out for you. In that case you just have to find out what you can promote properly and what you can avoid users from copying. Adsense doesn't pay high on content which is copied. So they are the one losing by copying your content.

You can't prevent plagiarism, not matter the techniques you use, the copy cats are always one step ahead of you, just like the the hackers are one step ahead of the developers. so content copying is inevitable. no matter what you try and how you do it. like some people cloud their content, in which the select mouse can't work. but someone who is determined to copy your content will just run a fetch script in Ruby or Python, and dump your contents in a file. is that simple?.
So just do your thing and forget about plagiarism.

That's also my take on plagiarism that it cannot be prevented. I remember one blogger who said that your blog cannot be copied if you will disable the right click. Of course we know that it is not so. When writing, never think that it will be copied for that thought may affect the way you write and the quality of your output may suffer. Try to enjoy writing with the thought that you have the power to express yourself.

There is almost nothing you can do to be honest if you get plagiarized. It's just one of those things that can really annoy people but you just can't stop it. I know that a few people disable right click on their websites and blogs so that people cannot copy the actual text from your site but this isn't always any help because there are some very easy ways to get around this. The easiest way to get around this is to just view the page source (using keyboard combinations). That way they can just copy the text.

Often two websites may be owned by the same person, who will in turn duplicate articles etc.They will personalize the individual websites to suit target market, however the bulk of it would be the same. With the same customer obtaining comparative quotes, it is a cost effective way of gaining market share.

You can't prevent plagiarism because you can't stop a person from choosing to be a thief!

What used to tickle me about plagiarism checks is that I would write my own content and publish it. Then because it's my stuff and I OWN IT, I would rewrite and try to publish elsewhere and get told by the site owner that I was plagiarizing! WHY? Because their plagiarism checker said so! That crap used to send me through the roof! So instead I started looking for sites that accept republished content. I don't have the patience to have an argument with a computer program.

As for finding people who plagiarize your content and what to do to them once you find them, there are ways. Other people tell me "there are ways". But they also say it's a mean and nasty fight to get that plagiarized content removed. So if you're willing and determined to go after thief ... go after them!

Honestly, I had 12 of my articles at Hubpages plagarized by the same person at Expertscolumn. He copy and pasted my articles at Expertscolumn without my permission. I made a complaint at DMAC and Expertcolumn admin but no solution. Hence, I stopped using non popular website search engine to promote my posts. I suspected it was PING. Stay away from it. Now, my posts at Hubpages are safe.

I am on Hubpages, Hubpages is a writing site where a writer can earn revenue from his articles. Once the entire hubpages site was copied by another site. The copied site had different url, but rest of the things were ditto. Since this was a voilation, Hubpages acted promptly and the duplicate site was gone. This was a rare incident, however, plagarism of individual contents happens very frequently. Once I found out that my 12 articles published on Hubpages were plagarized by other people and published on their byline on other sites. I had to file DMCA. Plagarsed versions of my articles are still available online.
There is no way you can stop anyone from copying your content. However, if you discover that someone has stolen your content, you should never let it go.

The tough part about SEO is that it seems like a person cannot really stop plagiarism. In that case, many might opt for other ways of getting traffic like pay-per-click engines or social media. However, though, if you do want to seriously stop plagiarism, then you might, first of all, consider getting a blog and not a forum - because grammar policing a popular forum seems impossible.

You can't you can put every copy protection under the sun on your website and someone will still find a way to copy it. And if they copy it into their own words there isn't anything that you can do about it. So I myself never worry about if someone is going to copy my work, because life's too short to sweat the small stuff. And there is no sense in getting gray hair over something that you can not control.

That’s also what I’m thinking about protecting your contents from plagiarism. There are good writers who would steal ideas from your contents so practically it is not plagiarism in the true sense because they used their own words to present the idea that they got from your contents. Maybe we just have to forget about protecting our contents from plagiarists because it will only add to the burden of posting contents.

Well on the brighter side, someone really admires your work even better than theirs to the point where they would use it to promote their business. On the grim side they may be stealing revenue from your pocket. Chances are if they are stealing your work they are also stealing from others. Essentially this will only serve as an injustice to them as there are issues unresolved with their modus that they choose not to fix but to mask by diverting key learning styles and responsibilities to 'quick and dirty fixes.' It's a disaster waiting to happen for them if they choose to plagiarize.

That would be tough. Perhaps reporting it to Google might help. These are just some of the things that should be unacceptable in the internet world. Unfortunately, I think these incidents happen far more then they are reported.

You can result to scare tactics by posting a stern warning on your site against plagiarism. People visiting the site would read it and will think twice to copy your content.

I agree you should studiously protect your content, especially as you have taken your time and energy to write it.Report it to Google by all means especially if the site concerned does not take immediate action. However,I don't believe that there is a situation where you can have purely original content. When articles are written they are always backed up by research found on the internet. I think we must all admit this and just remember to acknowledge our sources. Original content is written from personal experience, the rest is a version of someone, else's work.

It's really hard to prevent but you can issue a stern warning in the likes of, "This site does not condone Plagiarism, please do not copy my articles in part or in full without any permission". Sometimes words warning people about plagiarism can act as a deterrent.
