Ofcourse, if you have bunch of visitors with high bounce rate, that alarm google that something fishy is going on with your traffic.

Directly, No. Indirectly, YES.
Your website ranking is based on a number of factors such as content quality and uniqueness, proper use of keywords, backlinks, social signals, site load time etc. Bounce rate has no direct influence on determining your site ranking.
Your bounce rate is high means visitors did not stay on your page for too long. You are getting traffic, however, your traffic does not engage on your website. When this happens, Google will be suspicious about your site, it might think you are using traffic exchange or bots. This will result in lower rank.

Thank you for the information. I just learned about bounce rate recently and I am still confused on how it works and how it is determined by the website. Now you are saying that bounce rate does not affect the SEO of the site but it definitely has an effect on the traffic because when the user does not stay long on a web page that probably means the content is not good enough to be read in its entirety.

Bounce rate is related to your content quality, site design, and website loading speed. If the visitor does not find anything to hand on, he will leave your site immediately, which will increase your bounce rate. Visitors also do not like the site that is designed badly. Having too many ads will also make your website bad and is a turn off for visitors. In order to reduce the bounce rate, you have to focus on these factors.
If your site has a good design, loads faster and has useful and informative contents, visitors will engage on your site which will reduce your bounce rate substantially.
