    Yes, thart's link should be good for you to learn. If you have other questions then ask because I know all about citations. I've done so many different papers during my University years... it sort of stays with you forever. Once you learn how to do it properly, you will always know.     There are many ways you can format citations. If you would like to use a software that will do the formatting for you then Zotero (https://www.zotero.org/ ) is a great option. It is free and works well with MS Word. A great thing about Zotero is that you can import citations of different formats into the Zotero database. Only the references you cite in the text will be displayed in the Reference List of your document.

    Most citation format depends on the institution you may find yourself in. At times, it goes down to faculty or college level. The best thing to do is to consult your supervisor on how he/she wants the format. From there you can check the internet for more info.

    It also helps to know what style your instructor prefers, as there are quite a few. The most common ones that I've come across would be MLA, APA, and Chicago. There's a bunch of resources out there on all of them.

    It's probably a good idea to know what citation format your university uses since there are many. Here in Portugal we use the APA and Harvard style.
