SEO has been on the rise in the last 5 years as one thing that every business owner needs for their website in order to be competitive. There are more people browsing around on their smart phones making purchases than there were a few years ago on a desktop or laptop, which seems to be an ever increasing trend that some businesses may not know just yet.
When it comes to SEO, you will always need to be doing it in order to stay relevant within your community. Now I'm not just talking about on social media, I'm talking about everywhere and that includes the search engines.
Most business owners might try and take a stab at their own SEO because "they know their website the best" which is great, but usually a bad thing. Just doing one little thing wrong can make your entire website be seen in a bad light and eventually get it de-indexed. 1. SEO isn't exactly the easiest thing to do
When it comes to optimizing your website for the search engines, there's no one article that can cover everything to do. You won't be able to register on an internet marketing forum and be able to do all the work yourself flawlessly. It takes SEO experts years of research and implementation in order to be successful, and they do it because it's what they love, you do it because you want rankings. Being driven by rankings alone, you may be pulled down a path to the "quickest" rankings possible. This will usually end bad because there's no such thing as quick rankings when it comes to SEO, there's only black hat methods to increase your rankings quicker than normal but then you get hit with a penalty and fade away from the search results.

2. SEO is always changing
If you read a bunch of content about SEO and start doing whatever others are saying, that information has a shelf life. SEO is always changing because Google is always changing how they view websites and rank them within the search results. You're basically at the mercy of Google when it comes to ranking, and they never let you know what they're doing lol.
Even if you take the time to read five books on SEO and become a self-taught expert, it’s a temporary expertise at best. Google regularly rolls out major and minor algorithm changes.
It will take you too much time to focus on learning how to do everything properly and run your own business as well. So this is why you should be outsourcing the SEO work to an expert.
3. Messing up will hurt you for a while
When it comes to SEO, the search engines are not nice to you if you mess up. It doesn't matter if it's your first screw up or your 1,000th, they aren't nice to someone who breaks the rules.
You may read a book and think that having more keywords on your pages are a good thing, but actually are a horrible thing because the search engines will see you as falsifying what you're actually doing and they won't like it.
