    Did Ad Blockers Decrease Your Earnings from Sales of Affiliate Products?

    Many who work from home either built niche websites or started blogs, and used advertising or affiliate ads to develop revenue streams and make money online from these home business projects.

    Since the implementation of ad blockers and anti-tracking software in browsers, has there been a significant decrease in your earnings from affiliate product sales?

    What did you do to ensure a successful affiliate marketing effort, even though site visitors have started using ad blocking services?

    I'm not too big into affiliate marketing but I have heard that some people are losing a lot of sales due to ad blockers. I know that Google and Facebook are fighting against these ad blockers and making you turn them off sometimes when you want to access certain content. Think about it, if they have all their ads blocked when people are coming to their sites, they wouldn't make nearly as much money from their advertisers because the impressions would plummet.

    Ad blockers are nice and all, but I see them more for blocking annoying pop ups that can take 10 minutes for a page to load or blocking something that will just be annoying and get in your way. If you ask me, ad blockers are getting a bit ballsy when it comes to blocking even images lol. I'll go to a website and 90% of the page is missing because the ad blocker decided that all the images were not necessary lmao Did Ad Blockers Decrease Your Earnings from Sales of Affiliate Products?

    How can Google and Facebook fight the Ad Blockers? It seems that the employment of Ad Blockers is at the mercy of the user. I am a user and I would probably use an Ad Blocker when I am visiting a website that is full of ads like the online newspapers which annoys me with its excessive ads. What will happen in a few years from now when most of the sites are using ad blockers?

    Yes. I had forgotten to turn off the Ad Blocker in my own browser. When I visited my own website and looked at it, I wanted to faint! I went through so much trouble to arrange images and then it looked like somebody had taken a hatchet to my website. Totally destroyed its "beauty". Sucks!

    I am not a affiliate marketer and have little knowledge in this field but as far as I have heard ad-blockers do decrease earning from sales of affiliate products.

    I wasn't making that much to begin with and then when I finally tweaked my marketing strategy and thought it would work, they started with the Ad Blockers. Talk about horrible timing. Sucks!

    For me Adblockers are affecting a lot. You can see that some of the adblockers actions has resulted in low adsense earning. And also the affiliate links are being removed from the page. And this is what makes it harder for me to even consider any monetization. I am going to check out other means to create website. And then may put the content behind the paywall. I have seen it working for some users.

    I hear you. Do you how many blog posts and/or articles are out there discussing monetizing your blog or your website, but are not updated to include a mention about "Ad Blockers". That's why I asked the question. Back in my day, if only we could have blocked the TV commercials and watched our favorite shows and movies commercial-free. The Ad Blockers are not just aimed at pop ups. Wish they were. But they block a lot more. Sucks!

    I have youtube channel. I also have two more blogs. And all of them have the ads like adsense and affiliate links. My earning upto 2012 prior to adblockers were good. And after that suddenly everything collapsed. You can see that in near future this may go even more down. So working online is going to be lot harder. And monetizing the people won't be easy thing to do. I guess people have to find other means to support their online working.

    I do believe most sites have taken a hit in their earnings from Adblock use. Now I do use it myself and the reason why I downloaded it is simple: I use youtube a lot and I was fed up of watching some nonsense every time I switched to a new video. If they made an effort to direct the adds like for instance: "Hey lets put motorcycle and beer adds on rock videos!" I wouldn't have the slightest problem with it. Now clicking on a Motorhead video and being confronted by a Nivea add somehow just didn't cut it for me.

    I watch a lot of YouTube videos. Many of them have the "Skip the Ads in 10 seconds" button to click on. I click most of the time.

    Ad Blockers are definitely a problem for big earners that earn big through mostly the ads on their site. That's why these days, a lot of big sites that do put a lot of emphasis on detecting it and alerting the user to it and kindly asking them to disable it. Some go even further and block access to their site altogether unless they disable their Ad Blocker first lol which is highly debatable if you ask me! But the fact is, a lot of sites are powered by their ads in the first place so in order to be up, they need to earn from those ads to keep the site running. However... some sites earn a lot from the ads on their site and have more than enough left over after paying the hosting fees and any other fees associated with running that site, admin, support, design, coders, promotion etc. Even if they don't ask people to turn off their Ad Blocker!

    This was a growing problem a number of years ago in the online arcade gaming niche and is still a problem now where those sites mostly earn through the ads on those sites. There were lots of ways of dealing with it but the best is the nag screen which constantly nags you to disable it every 20 seconds or something until eventually they get annoyed so much they just do.     The Pop up blockers were already being used before Ad Blockers. I know! I used them! A lot! Mainly because I feared them. Went to a library one time to use their Internet. A pop up ad showed up on the screen. And then it kept popping up and popping up and popping up and … It was awful! So traumatizing.

    Anyway!… Long story short I started using pop up blockers.

    But the same people who are yelling about their Internet experience being ruined and ads somehow violating their privacy are the reason Ad Blockers were developed.

    While I understand, I don't really understand. I visit a lot of sites and when I see the ads I figure that's just how they support their site. Why should I opt to cut off that income stream but still want to visit their site? That's like going into somebody's store and wanting to walk out with their product and not pay for it.

    (It's a good analogy and I'm sticking with it.)

    I haven't gotten to the point where I block access to my site unless the visitors disable their Ad Blocker services. But I am tempted to put up sort of a “nice request”. I definitely don't want to annoy a visitor. I remember that frightening pop up ad experience in the library. Sucked!!

    Ad blocker sometimes be useful for us and sometimes not, people earn alot from ads..but that annoys the customer or the person who's on the website..for example, The Pop-up ads they are annoying..so people have to open the Ad Blocker to prevent that from happening, So people lose alot from that, just a few customers or persons on the website doesn't have Ad Blocker that means that the ad owner isn't earning much from his ads.

    Yes they somehow do. Ads are one of the main reasons how site owners get money. If visitors click the ads on your site, you will have traffic and you will get a certain amount of cash and imagine if you get lots of visitors for one day, and you don't have ad blocker. More ads means more money.

    In one discussion that I had read, the question was what happens if Ad blockers become the order of the day for browsers? At first, I couldn’t comprehend until I realized that affiliate marketing and other business websites depend on the ads. We have the pop up ads before and now we have the simple advertising that promotes the business interest. And if we cannot display the ads due to the ad blocker, it will change the landscape of the advertising industry
