To be a successful affiliate you need to figure out how to get quality traffic. I would say this is the number one determinant of whether you will be successful or not. I don't like the idea of traffic exchanges, because you can get a lot of traffic that doesn't convert. It's like a swarm of bees, you can make them come out of the hive, but you can't make them sting you. It's better for you to find a way to come up with your own organic traffic.

Using social media particularly Facebook is one good way of getting good traffic. One freelancer I know had created a Facebook Group that has a similar niche of his site. When the Facebook Group had acquired more than a hundred members, he started promoting his site and increased traffic was getting to be regular. He said that creating such a network of people with the same interest as your niche is a blessing because they will patronize your site just like patronizing the Facebook Group.
