When it comes to blogging there is not specific number count that you can go with that will help you out in the long run. Most people will tell you that anything under 500 words isn't going to do you very well because you didn't put your heart into the content. But it's not really about you not putting your heart into a 500 word or less article, it's that you can't optimize it or get your point across as easily when typing something that short. If your website is suppose to be extremely informative, don't you think there should be articles on there that are much longer?
Posting Short Content:
Some marketers have been experimenting with short articles and seeing if they will rank well on the SERPs. These guys are testing out articles that are roughly 300 words and optimized. Now you can't get much of a point across with 300 words, but they're doing their best lol. They do everything you need to do within the website such as interlinking and publishing their articles so they can be indexed, but is that enough to outrank a longer article about the same topic?
Posting Longer Content:
When writing longer content that is 1,000+ words you can always get more information in there compared to the 300 word articles, for obvious reasons. The 300 word articles can be extended with images to seem longer, but so can the 1,000+ word articles. With the longer articles you can get more images in there, which means more image alt tags to help with your on page optimization. Whenever I'm posting a long article covering a specific topic I will always see better results opposed to posting a short and sweet article. Maybe it's because my articles are written for the user in mind and not optimized to hell for the search engines. Maybe the search engines just like my writing better when I stretch everything out instead of use bullet points.
Content Length in General:
The length of content is every changing when it comes to SEO and right now we're seeing that anything under 500 words isn't doing as well as something that is 1,500 words. There's no set number of words that is the golden number so we can't always be 100% accurate when covering this topic. But to be safe, I would never go under 650 just in case the numbers get changed in the future 
Hiring Writers:
If you're a bad writer, or you just don't have the time to do the articles yourself, you can always hire a writer. There are plenty of article writers here or at https://www.wordclerks.com that can help you out with all your writing needs. I've hired plenty of writers on both platforms and I haven't been upset with the work. Just do your research and ask for examples prior to working with anyone. If they can't provide examples, move on to the next writer who can.
Never Spin Content:
Spinning content is when you scrape together a bunch of articles and put it into a piece of software that will rip these articles apart to make dozens of new articles. Spun content does not really work anymore because it's never written well, even if someone claims it is, and it just hurts your rankings if you get caught doing it. Spun content may have worked 10 years ago, but today it just makes you look bad, even if it's on a tier 1 page Try to avoid spun content and if a service provider offers it as a part of their SEO or article marketing, I would try to send them unique content for the job.
Write In Your Own Style:
When you're writing in your own style you're adding your personality into your writing. And if you're writing a long article covering something you're passionate about, your emotions will be more evident within it. So many people become robots when writing and they forget about their readers. No one wants to read an article and think "Was this written by a person or robocop?" lol I have my own style, but I've been writing for so long that it's on a more professional side but you'll notice my overuse of emojis and LOL's <--- Case and Point
In conclusion, you should always focus on writing articles that are longer and more detailed opposed to the shorter 200 to 300 word articles that look like more like a tweet. If you can get your point across in 500 words but it sounds better in 1,500, write the 1,500 word article so you don't have readers scratching their heads with dozens of questions

I swear you're an A.I. Android... You say to never spin content and I agree, especially if it's done automatically by a spinbot tool or something! That always cooks very incoherent articles that has words in them that don't have anything to do with the article itself! Sometimes words are replaced with words that don't even make sense! However... if you spin an article by hand, sentence for sentence, phrase for phrase, word for word, and check each spin each time, then you can make high quality spins that can be used for any purpose even your own money site. Although, I wouldn't use spun articles on my money site, even if I hand spun them myself! I'd use them on my Web 2's and things like that. For tier2, tier3 links etc. And hand spinning does take much, much longer to do. A 1000 word article would take me all day to spin by hand. Checking each spin so that every sentence makes perfect sense still. So don't knock all spun content! Not content that has been spun by me anyway as you would never even be able to tell that it's been spun once I've done it! :D All the rest you've said is great stuff as well though!
