Which local server application you use to test php website?

I'm still using Xampp to test php websites or WordPress website. There are other alternative softwares of Xampp. Which are wamp, lamp, etc.
Basically I use PHP, mysql function. Other than these two, I don't use Filezilla server, mercury, tomcat and other addon extras.
I have installed it inside my D drive instead the operating system drive C.
I feel it so easy to install Xampp, but first time I searched here & there to make it work.

I do so under Lubuntu using Apache, and PHP packages. I usually create a folder in my home directory containing my site code, and then I create a simple Bash script to copy the files to my public_html directory.
