Do You Know Your Social Media Dead Zones?

Social Media Dead Zones what on Earth are they?

Basically, they are the worst times to post to Social Media sites! Knowing these "dead zone times" will make all the difference in how much engagement you get from your social media posts that you make. These are the times when there are the least amount of people using those sites.

Here are the Social Media Dead Zone Times

Facebook: Between 12 AM to 8 AM.
Twitter: Between 8 PM to 8 AM.
Instagram: Between 12 AM to 8 AM.
Pinterest: Between 1-7 AM to 5-7 PM.
Google+: Between 6 PM to 8 AM.
LinkedIn: Between 9 AM to 5 PM.
Tumblr: Between 12 AM to 12 PM.

Okay so those are the worst times to post to Social Media. The best times to post of course would be anytime in between those times.

However the best time to post on Social Media is usually in the late afternoon to the early evening time. Why is that? Because by then it's the end of the day and people aren't in such a rush to get ready for work and have more time on their hands and are likely to spend more time using social media compared to the mornings and afternoons and you have a better chance of them engaging with that content too.

What are the best days to post to Social Media?

According to Buzzsumo statistics these are the best days to post to each of these Social Media sites.

The best day to post to;

Facebook: is on a Tuesday.
Twitter: is on a Tuesday.
Pinterest: is on a Monday.
Google+: is on Tuesday.
LinkedIn: is on a Monday.

The best day to share anything overall is on a Tuesday. Why a Tuesday? Well it's not a Monday for starters. But people are generally more active early in the week and trolling social media to see what their friends were up to on the weekend. That and some other reasons to do with Tuesday being the best day of the week for posting to Social Media sites for why content goes viral after analysing 100 million articles.

I never even thought there would be social media dead times if I am honest with you. My times for posting to social media have always been in the morning at say around 9am-10am specifically to Facebook so it would seem I don't hit the dead times. You would think that because social media is so popular you wouldn't have any kind of dead times or at least not overly dead between those times as there is always someone in the world awake and using social media, it's just a case of reaching that active audience when you post during the dead times.

I would have thought evening times between say 4pm and 11pm would be the best times to post to social media and also anytime during the morning and afternoon on a Sunday. These times I would have thought would be more active times on Social Media seen as people are not working and browsing social media to catch up on the days events.

I guess the dead zone depends on the time zones. I have noticed that my Facebook friends are more active during the time after breakfast. Maybe it is the morning hour that they use their phones for social media. Another peak time is after dinner, that’s about 8 pm until midnight. But in the early morning, it is a dead zone because most of my friends in Facebook are still asleep.
