Paid Traffic vs Organic Traffic

Which type of traffic do you think is best when it comes to paid traffic and organic traffic?

I have done a few paid traffic campaigns with Google Adwords and with Bing Advertising but I am not very experienced with PPC campaigns. I found some success but not enough for me to carry on with it.

I did make some sales when I had my online store but I had to spend a lot of money to get those sales! When I looked at my profit after advertising I was just breaking even. Not making a profit really, but also not making a loss.

Also I found when I was feeling a bit poor it was frustrating if I had to end my PPC campaigns.

I much prefer now to spend money and effort on getting my website ranked for good keywords since it is a more long term solution for me.

To get results with paid traffic, you need to continue to spend money but with SEO, once you rank keywords, you will keep getting traffic. However, you can also lose your rankings if Google changes its algorithms so it isn't always effective. Organic traffic is always better than paid traffic but advertising is very important for a business and this fits in with paid traffic.

Thanks for your input MasterA - yes I am sure paid advertising can work really well. My difficulty is that I don't think Ive quite mastered how to do it. I read a discussion here, I think started by Razzy, on how to target page 2 results with Google Adwords. I found that really interesting since I always thought it was essential to be on page 1 for paid advertising and that can work out quite costly. Perhaps I should get help with paid advertising in future LOL

None of paid traffic can get you so good results in long run if you looking for sale conversion, like organic traffic from search engines and social media networks. So for investing now to gain ever after, i would always go for some good and quality SEO services which can boost your website SERP to drive you organic traffic for much longer time then you will be paying for PPC

Yes Abid, the thing is that how long do you want to be paying for traffic? My answer to that is that I don't want to pay for traffic at all.

I have also heard that a lot of people prefer to click on the organic results and not the paid results even if your ad is showing first.

I'm not sure what the reasoning behind this theory is though?

I like long term results that don't cost anything, or as little as possible, or that give great value for money.

So I would rather pay $100 over a period of time for my post to be on page one for organic search than pay $100 over a year to get loads of PPC traffic to that post. It is about thinking of the long term.

My observation on paid traffic is that you get what you paid for. If you want paid products to sell, avoid free methods. Go with paid ads. And free methods of traffic are good if you ant random casual traffic on ads. And those can be good for making things go viral etc. Lot of times it does not work that way and you have to continue tweaking the traffic sources these days. That's how things are going to be there.

I don’t think paid traffic is that beneficial. First is the investment that you put in the paid traffic. Second is the earnings you get from the paid traffic may not be commensurate to your expense. What I understand with organic traffic is “real” traffic that comes in from legit walk-in visitors. So that brings me to social media because that’s the place that I think would be easy to get traffic. If you have lots of friends in social media then you can seek their help with your traffic needs.
