Yes I do order now - how to kill a freelance deal!

I believe this needs to be addressed by someone since it just came up in one of the other discussions.

Everyone here wants to make money and one of the recent discussions was about the English language and it has been brought up a few times.

Now there are two sides to this. There is someone not being able to communicate well in English and there are others that just don't care.

It is the people that just don't care that bother me more.

A great example is that I usually message a seller before I order a service from him or her the first time.

Sometimes I want to know something about the service but that is not the reason I send a message. I am checking out the seller.

So many times I message a seller asking a specific question and often I don't really care what the actual answer is, I am actually testing to see how the seller addresses my query and deals with me.

So many times a seller replies with something like "Yes I do now, order." when I have asked a specific question. This actually doesn't answer the question I asked but it does answer the reason I messaged the seller in the first place.

It confirms to me that this is NOT a seller I want to deal with, not now, not ever.

So sellers, when a buyer messages you and you want that order take a few minutes to reply properly.

Yeah well, it swings and roundabouts in it. It takes all sorts as they say. Unfortunately, that's the world for you. We don't live in a perfect world. If we did there would be no wars, no famines, no droughts, no diseases, no accidents. Everything would be hunky dory. Nobody would be "not care". Everyone would give it "their all". And love, peace and unity would reign. However, that's not the world we live in. And there are people out there that just don't really care. They don't realize or don't have enough going on to really care that much or put that much effort in.

But this is one way of finding out whether or not someone is going to be a good seller/provider for you by messaging them first. And I see people do that all the time. You ask them a question and they'll be like "yes, place order now". And sometimes I've done that to people, then placed my order, and they didn't update it right away until the next day or something. And then the order gets late and I'm having to chase them up on it which is something no buyer should ever have to do. A seller should keep their buyer updated at every step.

That's just how I do business anyway. Yes I do order now - how to kill a freelance deal!

Mike thats the thing and like I just said to Jkeyz2, very often when I ask a question I already know what the answer is and I am testing to see how the seller responds to me. It is about the answer yes but it is about checking to see how they deal with me.

The thing that gets me is that I don't waste a person's time. I will only send a message to someone if I am very interested in one of their services. Testing how they respond to me is usually the last step of my research and if the seller does it right they have a sale.

It is amazing to see how many people don't bother answering my question or taking any care at all with my request.

I agree that unfortunately some people are really nauseating, to say the least. As a seller I really want to make sure that I understand what the buyer wants from me. So I try to communicate with them, and to get through to them so as to understand what they really need, and the only thing that they bother to say is either something way too short, or silly, or absurd. I often end up not really understanding their needs and this worries me because I believe that this is critical to send over a service that really caters for their needs. Pure decency often lacks in some people, and it is not a matter of ignorance or not knowing the language, but simply because they are too lazy sometimes.

Oh yes EliteWriter, it goes both ways doesn't it. I think especially with your content writing services. If someone wants a certain number of backlinks and they want so many keywords targeting and a url that is quite a simple thing... but if you need to write 2000 words for them you really need a good insight into what they are after.

How can anyone expect you to do a good job writing a long article when they don't do a good job telling you what they want?

I loved the English Language Test Badge Clearly Displayed On Your Profile suggestion, and I would definitely want something like that to be implemented shortly.

I can't really say how you should do it, or what type of questions a seller would have to answer to earn the badge, but some sort of basic knowledge would be great. It would also be cool if you could lose this badge somehow, if you don't communicate properly in the future with your clients.. But I guess that would be too hard to do.

Perhaps you could have some sort of "reports" for that? - If a person gets 10 reports due to bad communication, they'll lose the badge?

I mean, I don't want people to cheat their ways to a badge and then be able to keep it no matter what they do after that.

Anyhow, like I already stated in the actual suggestion, I hate to deal with people that doesn't take their business seriously. If they don't do it, why should I?

Best Regards,
hitmeasap

Andre... oh dear, can I call you Andre now? LOL

I like what you said there and that hits the nail on the head for me. If someone does not take the time and effort to reply properly to me it says exactly that: They do not take their business seriously... and yes then I also don't take them seriously.

Ok, so proper English is important for you. I'm not a native English speaker but I can understand where you are coming from with this and I agree on the most part.

As a seller I'm seeing things from a different perspective, a lot of my clients here in SC are not English speakers, probably close to 50% of them are not native English speakers, they are from all over the world and most of them, don't have a very good English.

Should I refuse their orders because of this? Well no. I usually answer to them in the same "broken English" they are speaking with me
because if I use any complex sentences I'm going to confuse the hell out of them, so I'll just use my "rural English", simple sentences with simple words so they can understand.

Bottom line, I think it depends on the service you are interested in. Sure if you want to hire a writer, bad English is no excuse but if you want to buy backlinks, maybe give some sellers a chance, you might be surprised.

Nope Cristian I think we are on different planes here Yes I do order now - how to kill a freelance deal!

I am talking about if I send you a message and it goes something like this:

"Hi Cristian

I am interested your 25 forum posts service, can you maybe just explain to me quickly what the main benefit of ordering this will be? Do you think I will get traffic from this service?

Thanks

Lynne"

And then you reply to me and just say "Yes I do, order now"

This type of thing happens to me all the time. Now when I send you this message I have already read your service, I am almost sure I want to buy it. I am sending you a message to test how you deal with your customers and how much emphasis you place on proper communication.

If you reply like in this example... well you have failed that test.

If I send you a message that says "Can you do this" and you reply "Yes I do, order now" then that is perfectly 100% acceptable!

Ha! So this is why you messaged me lol! Just kidding but i think this is a great idea for new clients as well as people who have been shopping here for along time. We need a shopping guide for the people who spend money here on Seoclerks. If we cannot have some sort of badge that says this seller speaks English or Spanish or whatever than maybe we can train buyers to make sure a seller is rite for them before they order. So many new sellers coming on a monthly basis trying to get things started but they are not properly equipped maybe we could have some sort of training guide for sellers as well. Maybe when people sign up they will have an option to have a seller training and same with buyers. The language badge idea thats a good one hopefully something can be done to increase the quality of sellers we have here even if training is necessary.

LOL yes of course Jkeyz2. I inbox every seller I am interested in using before I place an order even if that person has come highly recommended by someone I really trust.

Doing the message first process really does give me a lot of insight into the seller, especially since half the time I ask a question I know full well what the answer is, or should be.... yet I get some rubbish, half assed reply... then I know this seller is not for me.

I want to see whether that seller takes the time and effort to reply to me properly. If they can't bother with that then I doubt they will bother with providing a quality service either.

Yeah, I agree with you that one, as a seller on this platform, needs to read with care what the buyer is stating on the order that he/she made considering that many of the buyers might not have gotten to grips with what English is all about and how to effectively pass a message across. So, reading and getting what he really wants would go a long way in making it a great deal for both parties involved.
