    What is a good Reputation Management Company and How to tell?

    Hello all. I'm looking to get some feedback and advice on hiring a Reputation Management Company. I know some of you have spoken about Reputation Management on here in the past so you have some experience in that field.

    I have some questions about them and hiring one if someone can help.

    If I was looking to hire a Reputation Management Company, what sort of things should I look for? Are there any red flags so to speak that I should look out for?

    How can I know that a Reputation Management Company is a good one to hire? What kind of prices can I expect to pay for that sort of thing?

    More to the point, how do most Reputation Management Companies charge you? Is it a one off fee or do they charge by the hour or by how much work is involved?

    What if I only need them for a small task like to remove some negative ratings or reviews somewhere or get them pushed off the 1st page of Google SERPs? Is that possible?

    How do Reputation Management Companies actually work? What sort of things will they be able to do for me? Do they create bogus fake positive reviews/testimonials?

    Also lastly, can you recommend any good Reputation Management service on here on SEOClerks that you know of or have used in the past? Was it effective?

    If I was looking to hire a Reputation Management Company, what sort of things should I look for? Are there any red flags so to speak that I should look out for?

    Basically you'll want to find a company that is building positive PR about your company or website and not just pushing down the negative listings. If you can find a company to get listings removed or deindexed from the listings, even better What is a good Reputation Management Company and How to tell?

    How can I know that a Reputation Management Company is a good one to hire? What kind of prices can I expect to pay for that sort of thing?

    You can find dozens of reputation management companies by doing a simple search on Google, but we all know how reliable that is What is a good Reputation Management Company and How to tell? Do your due diligence and check to see if there is anything negative about the company. The older the website/company, the more press there will likely be about it. Typically the older companies will have refined their techniques and can work with you for a cheaper price, or they jack their prices up to a point where small businesses can't afford them What is a good Reputation Management Company and How to tell? Pricing varies depending on the origin of the company you're talking to. A company based in the US and UK will cost more as opposed to ones in the Philippines and India. But if you speak English, there will be a language barrier and the company you hire will just tell you what you want to hear.

    More to the point, how do most Reputation Management Companies charge you? Is it a one off fee or do they charge by the hour or by how much work is involved?

    I do a lot of online reputation management for clients because it's a part of SEO pretty much. When I am helping to build a brand, or protect it, I will do a monthly recurring fee. I ask for at least a 6 month contract so that I can almost guarantee a positive reputation when I'm done.

    It's definitely possible, it just depends on the company you're talking to. A lot of online reputation management companies will take on any task, big or small, but just removing 1 link could cost thousands depending on where it is What is a good Reputation Management Company and How to tell?

    How do Reputation Management Companies actually work? What sort of things will they be able to do for me? Do they create bogus fake positive reviews/testimonials?

    When we're doing online reputation management we'll run good press releases, not the $5 ones, and push positive content out about the business or website. After that we will tier link all the reports to push the links higher in the SERPs to guarantee anything bad gets flooded out. Reputation management companies vary, some will just remove links while others will build positive content for you and some will do both. Bogus/Fake reviews will probably be in there somewhere, just be careful that you know what's going on prior to payment. Fake reviews can actually hurt your website if you're found out placing them or a company is doing it for you.

    Also lastly, can you recommend any good Reputation Management service on here on SEOClerks that you know of or have used in the past? Was it effective?


    I haven't used any myself from SeoClerks, but I'm sure there are a few that you could use to boost your rankings and positive PR. I don't buy ORM services here because I do my own What is a good Reputation Management Company and How to tell?

    Thanks Raz! I thought if anyone could answer these questions it would be you! What is a good Reputation Management Company and How to tell? That all makes good sense though. Something I was thinking of was getting good reviews out there about your new brand before you've even actually launched your brand. So you could get some good stuff out there about it so that when you do launch it, it's already there and some people have already learned of it before it's even actually live. You'd probably need a basic website up at first and then add all the other stuff as well but that would help to create a good name for yourself before you've even started properly trading. I guess you'd have to approach that at a unique angle though right? Have you ever done anything like that before for a brand that isn't even properly established yet?

    Basically you'd be building buzz about your upcoming business or website. Tons of SEO people do this if they are big. They'll set up one page websites with countdowns on there that shows when something is going to launch. They'll have an email capture field so they can blast out an email to all the people who signed up once the service goes live.     Well.. I have seen some services here offering reputation management. Let's just say I would not order from them.

    You know the saying "bad publicity is good publicity"? Say for instance that you owned a small shop in your area. Say you have about 100 customers ordering per day. Say that 10% of those customers did not like a service or product that you sold (you can not please them all).

    So what exactly would these 10% dissatisfied customers do? They will most likely create a negative review about your business. So with that, you of course do not want this all over the internet. So you would hire someone to combat this negative experience, and try to replace with a positive one. However, it's not that easy. Why is it not easy?

    If your company/business is found to be creating fake reviews to boost reputation, which is likely to happen, it will make your company/business untrustworthy to any future customers or even present ones. The customers will then move onto another business, and won't order from you anymore. If you are hiring a company to create fake reviews, or to make a negative experience a positive one, then what else are you capable of doing? Maybe stealing credit card info?

    What you should do is ask your customers to post reviews online after purchasing. You could offer incentives, but it is better for them to create the review without any incentives. You can ask them to "show your support by creating a review at "___". Customers will help you build back a negative reputation, if you have one that is. If you have dissatisfied customers, then you should work out a resolution that fits both parties involved, and hopefully it wont get to a point where a customer posts tens of bad reviews.

    A good company/business can basically build it's own positive reputation, no matter how many negatives it has..

    Hey Everett, yes I do my own reputation management and so far I am doing ok. I would love to get more involved and get more juice going but the thing is that there is only so much time available in a day. This kind of work is really time consuming plus I believe that it must be done properly. One wrong move could be seriously detrimental. I am not able to spend the kind of money I think Razzy charges right now, and I am sure that paying anything less would be buying services that are not up to the kind of standard I would be seeking.

    Reputation Management Company - oh this is the new kid on the block, or at least for me it is, recently I started to see this term more and more talked about in the SEO community.
    A lot of companies out there have PR problems and they need people to fix them, mostly SEOs who know a couple of tricks to do such work.

    I actually did something similar myself. I had this doctor client once that needed a bad review article written by some online newspaper removed, did everything under the sun to take that articles down, including black hat SEO, notifying Google about some legal matters that articles was talking about, contacted the newspaper itself, I did everything but nothing worked.

    So I created like 5 new blogs all targeting the doctor's name and I outranked that newspaper from the first page of Google. The most bad ass thing I ever done.

    This is the first time that I’ve heard of the company doing reputation management. My guess is that it is like an advertising agency that builds your profile and reputation for the public. It is more for the politicians here. I have a cousin who heads an advertising agency and I envision his work as what was described above. He had been handling not only people but also products and sometimes events.
