What is the best length of a introduction video?

I've previously made a video for a service of mine. The video is 1 minute and 22 seconds and I believe it includes everything it should.

However, I'm curious to know what others think?

Sure, the length would obviously depend on exactly what you're doing a video for.. But in general?

Let's say you're making an introduction video for a service or a product.

Do you think you should work within some sort of "guidelines" and make the video 1-2 minutes long or would even a 15 minute long video be appreciated by potential customers?

I personally don't like to watch long videos, especially when I'm not even certain of the fact that I'm interested.

I watch the video to see if I can become interested, but many creators makes their videos way to long so I don't even bother with most of them..

What do you think? - Would it be good to say as much as possible but still make the video as short as possible at the same time?

When you do an introduction video the length should be 45 seconds to 2 minutes at the very most. Making a video is easy to do in most cases and should be used to promote every business in my opinion. The problem most people have is that they make the video to long and the potential clients die with boredom. You have to have a good balance between long and short to give the prospective client a good idea of what they will get but not to long that they will lose interest. This would also depend on the product or service of course but for the most part a balanced video length works for all companies.

In general, I'd say that anything between 30 seconds and 2 minutes would be fine, as long as the introduction of the product or service are on-going through the whole video. I don't like the 2 minute long videos that would literally take 15 seconds to go through if they didn't smashed it with thunder and lightning. I hate these "slow motion" kind of videos when it's an introduction of a product or a service. I want the real meat fast so to speak. I couldn't care less about their "awesome-super-cool-mega-duper-effects" and all. This ain't the Matrix movie we're talking about. That would be another scenario.

I think introduction videos should be short and to the point. I would say go for anything less than 2 minutes. I just hate those long videos that goes into so much detail when you can just explain everything in 2 minutes. For an introduction video, it is important to keep it short because if you make it too long, customers might get bored of it and never watch your other videos. If you do decide to make a long video, then it is very important that you make the first few minutes of your video very interesting, other wise they won't keep watching it. I think people just don't have time to watch long videos these days, especially videos promoting products or services so keeping it short is key in my opinion.

I agree with you MasterA, and that's actually one of the reasons I want my videos to be in parts. When I buy anything that is. I hate to watch one single video that is 140 minutes long or whatever. I'd much rather watch 10 different parts if they were 14 minutes long each. But I wouldn't do this with an introduction video for one specific service or product. Then I would like to have it all in one single, rather short video. Perhaps 2 minutes long at the most. More than that would be too much I think. - Sure, it obviously depends on the actual product too, but in general I'd say that 2 minutes long at the most are the most preferable? length.

In my opinion, i think a video of 30 secs to 45 secs max is enough for me as the video isnt suppose to be very long but precise, concise and straight to the point or else nobody will watch the video as there are so many other videos out there that are in competition with yours too. 45 secs max is okay for me.

Thank you very much chetaseo, I appreciate your reply. I can totally see why you'd recommend 30 to 40 seconds long video introductions and even though I could personally go with up to 2 minutes, I'd probably prefer them to be a bit shorter than that.

On Youtube, most of the Youtubers that I watch their intro videos last 5 to 10 seconds max. There are some that have longer intros but it's mostly if the video is a special event in their lives or on their channel. If a Youtuber I liked decided to have a minute long intro I would probably at first skip the intro to get past it, and on with the video but if it were to occur more I would probably stop watching them because of the long intro.

I honestly do not like intros, I like watching a video and the content being present as soon as I click the play/watch button. I don't want to waste valuable seconds of my life watching an intro video that could have been spent elsewhere, those seconds or minutes add up quite fast.

Instructions video from definition should be short if we are talking about a documentary, big video tutorial or some sort of explanation, sure you can make it longer. But an introduction should be short, less than 2 minutes. Make it straight to the point and maybe a little funny, I always enjoyed funny, cute and creative introduction videos, you need to make an impact, you need to make people remember you.

Also, depends on the creator, I personally love long videos from some of my favorite SEO personalities.

It depends on the video content. If your video content is interesting and has a good presentation, people will be watching it, and if the video does not have good content and is presented badly, people will not watch it. The best intro video is the video that is short and delivers the message in an interesting way. You will have to grab attention in 10 seconds and deliver the message in less than 180 seconds.

This is from the film editors in our movie industry. Movie trailers are 1 minute for the standard length but for tv commercials, the comfortable length in terms of exposure and cost is 30 seconds. Perhaps that 30 seconds of video would also apply to introduction of any kind particularly if it’s about your business or expertise. Viewers may get bored when your introduction video is 1 minute or more.
