More and more people are using their mobile devices and tablets to browse the web and many sites are not mobile optimized. It's often loading times and images are showing up in weird sizes etc.
What I wonder is, do you need to do SEO for both your website and to also mobile optimize your website?
I've heard some weird stories about this and some say that you need to do more or less the same sort of SEO for both, which basically would mean that I would need to hire someone to do SEO for me, TWO times.. And I find it odd.
Wouldn't mobile optimization be to increase the speed of the page, decrease/remove images and make sure that loading times were to a bare minimum?

So, make your site mobile friendly. And do your normal SEO.
The rest will fall into place on its own through the SEO that you do. Well this is a great question and I think a lot of people are a bit confused by this. There is standard SEO which covers on-page optimization and off-page optimization (link building etc). Then there is mobile SEO. But mobile SEO only comes in one way and that's on-page optimization. So you have to optimize your site for mobile users making sure it's "mobile friendly" and loads and looks and works properly on all different mobile phones, smartphones and tablet devices from Apple iPhones/iPad, Android smartphones/tablets, Samsung smartphones/tablets, Windows smartphones/tablets and so on and so forth. That can be anything from using a mobile switcher that detects the browser agent and screen size and automatically serves the mobile version of your site. To using a responsive theme that also has built-in mobile agent detection. But good rankings on mobile searches come in the same way as having good rankings for desktop searches. You do your SEO on your site to get good rankings for desktop searches and generally, good rankings also will show in mobile searches too. So, make your site mobile friendly. And do your normal SEO. The rest will fall into place on its own through the SEO that you do.
