    Should I do a Wikipedia Page for myself?

    I just saw one of the discussions about how to set up a Wikipedia page and now I wonder like can I get a Wikipedia page set up for myself?

    Like I'm not Kim Kardashian right? But I am on Youtube, I blog on 3 different websites of my own and I am starting another website next year which will be more business focused.

    I can only imagine that having a Wiki page for myself would be like way cool. What do you think? Do you think I should just forget about it or should I go for it?

    Ah go for it! What's the worst that could happen? Sure you have to remain neutral and follow their NPOV neutral point of view) policy. But so long as you are truthful about yourself and it's quite comprehensive, there is no reason why it wont stick! I don't know how you would hire someone for this job though as it would require knowing a great detail about yourself and you would have to tell the person you're hiring that. The best person for this job would be yourself since you know everything about your life including when and where you was born, where you lived, who your parents are, what things you've done in your life, what you are doing now etc etc. Only really you would know those things and only really you could explain them in a way that was accurate.

    I would check out other peoples Wikiepedia pages first and get a feel for how they look, see what kinds of things they say and think about how you can use that as a template for your own Wikipedia page. Of course, you would get a link from it as well, your company link for example, and that would bring about some more awareness of your company or blog for example too.

    Go for it! It would be a learning curve and maybe you could learn enough to sell this as a service to other people? Should I do a Wikipedia Page for myself?

    Yes Mike, all you say is true but I feel a little self conscious writing my own Wikipedia page!

    I will have to put this on my very long to do list and think about it for a while.

    I don't know how exactly publishing content on Wikipedia works, but I guess it can be developed without any problems, the only issue I see about such a page on the long term is the negative aspects that may also be included on the page.
    Because as far as I know Wikipedia is pretty neutral regarding most subjects and they'll publish positive and negative stuff about somebody.

    I personally don't think that publishing a Wikipedia page about myself is a good idea, but it may work for you since you already are active both as a blogger and YouTuber.

    Thanks Cristian, I will go and check that article out! Yes it does make me a little nervous thinking of having my own Wikipedia page but in the line of business I wonder if it would be a good move or a bad move for me.

    I mean being a blogger I am already all over the internet and on Youtube too! Surely in my instance adding a Wikipedia Page can only benefit me in my business ventures?

    I would certainly hire someone to do that for me, I wouldn't attempt to do that on my own.

    Unless you've got a lot of GOOD citations you can use, I wouldn't bother though. The most likely outcome is that it's removed. If you wrote the article yourself, then your IP could be at risk of being banned (to prevent you from trying again). Many of the common VPN providers, and proxies are blacklisted, in case you're thinking of using that as a work around. If you hire someone else, then you're out your money, when the page disappears.

    Hey Lynne,
    You can read my reply in the other topic here. I shared some details about how to create a wikipedia page and why etc. It's a good read.
    That being said, I'd totally go with a wikipedia page about yourself as long as you're not scared of being "public" so to speak. - In your case, as your most likely not afraid or scared to be public.. - Just go for it! Should I do a Wikipedia Page for myself?

    I mean it wouldn't hurt to build a Wikipedia page of yourself but I just don't see how it would affect your career. I think it's just a bunch of work for little to no return.

    I'm also thinking of creating a Wikipedia page but not for me, it is for my husband. From what I know, Wikipedia is for all and everyone. It serves as an almanac or directory. Although my husband is not a celebrity, he has many small successes that I am proud of. The question now is how to create a page and what exactly to write. It's not for commercial benefit but just for personal purposes.

    Wikipedia is not for creating your page, your spouse page or your neighbors' pages. However, if the person is already well known and has presence on various websites, you may create a page for any person you want. Befor, you create a page, try to make at least 10 edits on wikipedia pages. This is recommended before you create page.

    I have often thought about having my own Wikipedia page. I have published three books, two on Amazon and one a print book. I have written over 1000 articles in the national dailies in my home country. I have sold numerous ebooks and articles to the clients. I have half a dozen blogs. My name gets at least one search query every day on Google. Maybe I qualify for wikipedia.
    However, I don't see a point in having wikipedia. It would be better to have your own website about you instead of wikipedia, at least you would be earning from the traffic.
