This is something that a lot of people have asked me, where do you start?
So here are some things you can do to get started with SEO on your website:
1.First of all install an SEO plugin –Yoast or All In One SEO are great
2.Set yourself up on Google Webmaster tools and submit your site map to Google
3.Start adding content to your website that is optimized for SEO – here are 10 tips for on page SEO
4.Every time you publish content share it on social media
5.Start networking with people in your niche, join groups on social networks, join Quora and start getting involved.
6.Start commenting on niche related blogs, make note these need to be quality comments or they will not be approved.
7.Learn other off page SEO techniques or hire a freelancer here to do that work for you.
Ok I have left it at 7 steps and yes the 7th step is to learn more than I know… maybe some of the freelancers here can take up from step 7 LOL

In point 3 you say "here are 10 tips for on page SEO" but there is no link? Did you mean to link to your last post on 10 On Page SEO tips for beginners? But those are some great on-page SEO tips as well and no doubt anyone will find them useful no matter the level of experience they have in doing SEO both on and off page.
I really like your point 5 to start networking with people in your niche, joining groups on social networks, join Quora and start getting involved. I'm yet to tap into the full potential of Quora but it's on my Bucket List!
And as for blog commenting on related blogs, that is a sure fire way to not only get some good quality related backlinks to your site, but an excellent way to build brand/site awareness and find new people/bloggers to network with as well. Through commenting on other peoples blogs (with high quality comments) you can earn a lot of respect if your comments are good quality comments.
I'll try and put 3 more tips to make it to 10 Steps to get started with SEO on your own website.
8. Head over to knowem.com or namecheckr.com and search your main targeted keyword or brand name. Register accounts on all those top sites that you can submit your articles to and use to build even more brand awareness about your website / blog.
9. Reach out to other bloggers and sites in your niche and try to get guest posting opportunities on those sites. Those bloggers get free content for their site and you get a link from their site in the content that you write for them. It's a win win all round for all.
10. Start collecting email subscribers. Even if it's through a simple form on your site. The sooner you start collecting email subscribers, the more you'll have. The more you have, the more people that will read your emails and the more money you'll make. The money is in the list!
So yeah, that's now 10 Steps to get started with SEO.
