    Microsoft finally decided to redesign Paint!

    Microsoft Paint is one of the oldest Windows applications that had hardly changed over the years, in fact, I don't remember a serious Paint update and I always hoped for one with every Windows release.

    Microsoft finally decided to redesign Paint!
    I'm still using Windows 7 but for all of you Windows 10 users out there Microsoft may prepare a big surprise in the near future: finally updating Paint.

    The coolest feature they added is the feature to make shapes and stuff in 3D. To be honest here it doesn't look that good, still very basic stuff with a "cheap" looking interface. But I guess the average Windows users doesn't need anything beyond that but still would be cool to see some advanced features so people won't have to power up Photoshop for small edits and graphic creations.

    What do you think about the new Microsoft Paint? Are you glad the finally decided to give Paint new features?

    No way no way no way! Cor, talk about a long time coming! I've been wondering for years when they was going to upgrade M$ Paint! What I've liked about M$ Paint is how quick it's opened and how easy it is to use to quickly crop images and save them quickly. It's never had all the same features that some other competing free design apps and other M$ Paint alternatives like Gimp, Paint.Net, Inkscape, Artweaver, Picasa & IrfanView. And I've often used those instead of M$ Paint because they had more features, tools and filters etc.

    In the video she says "The Paint you know and love is still there" yadda yadda yadda. Whoa whoa whoa.. Backup backup. Wait a minute. "Love" is a bit of a strong word! I've never (in all my time online) ever heard someone say "I Love M$ Paint". EVER. But it's cool if it will still be simplistic to use so you can do things in it quickly like highlight certain areas of an image and add text to it etc quickly.

    The downside is that it's only going to be available for Windows 10 users then? Us still on Windows 7 wont get it. I presume they've done this in an attempt to get more people off Win7 and onto Win10. But IMHO, it's going to take a lot more than than an upgraded Paint app to make me make the switch. When they stop supporting Win7 and when Win10 becomes less clunky to use. Then I'll make the switch! Microsoft finally decided to redesign Paint!

    I also planning to make the switch, but probably on my next new laptop, at the moment my current laptop was just upgraded with an additional of 4GB of ram as well as an SSD. Works like a charm so chances are I won't upgrade to windows 10 anytime soon, hopefully for at least two more years.

    They can keep their "beloved" new Paint, lol, even though I will try it at work, just for the heck of it, I may even enjoy it with time if it's fast enough and has decent features.

    Hey if it ain't broke don't fix it! Yeah the new 3D features seem cool. Hopefully it will mean we'll start seeing some cool 3D diagrams and other cool 3D painted things that people make and get really creative with as they explore all of its capabilities and the Internet will be a prettier place because of it instead of looking like it's been stuck in the 90's for the past two decades! lol

    And that sounds sweet about your new rig. So you're running on 8GB with SSD now? I bet that opens programs quick and lets you do more multi-tasking than you was able to do. Hopefully in the new year when there are the January sales on I will upgrade my box. I've always found desktops faster than laptops and have more power but I guess these days a laptop with SSD and 8GB RAM would probably be faster and more powerful than most desktops without it.

    Yes definitely faster than desktops with HDD. I just love it, starts Windows in seconds and Chrome isn't a problem anymore, I can open as many tabs as want.
    It also boots Photoshop in less than 3 seconds. SSD + lots of RAM is the future mate, upgrade you won't be disappointed.

    Although having 16 GB of ram + a faster processor like i7 + a better generation of SSD will be even more astonishing, we have a configuration like this at work and its simply mind blowing, Windows 10 isn't fast enough for how good this configuration is...

    Oh that's great! I remember this program that I used to use for school projects and other simple stuff, especially since it was one of the most advanced programs I had back then lol! I think it was about time to update it! There have been countless updates on other programs and Paint seems to have been left in its traditional looks like forever! I will surely check it out!

    I find it funny that they have the time to redesign paint but still cant come up with a decent default color scheme. Thank you for giving us a wonderful video so that we can all see first hand what it looks like. I think the presentation was awesome and i look forward to using it. I don't think this can give real editing programs a run for their money just yet but the potential is their. Microsoft has something i call "Forced Marketing" so they can just make it a windows update and all of a sudden you have a new program. From what i can see in this video i think its going to be a great facelift for an old program. The Gates legacy is finding new ways to invent itself and i think its a good thing. Thanks for sharing.

    The new UI is looking great but as I see features are still the same thing, very very basic, not too much difference from the old paint, except the new design. But it's good to see that they have redesigned that app, and hope they will add some new functions too.

    However, it's still very basic, and I don't think that I'll use it as it can't be compared with photoshop or even some web apps which are more advanced than their app. I'm using Windows 10, I'll give a try when they'll release it, but I'm not going to use it just because of new design, I don't need new UI with old function, no Microsoft thanks.

    Honestly I have only ever used Microsoft Paint to crop images! I never used any of the other features before so I wouldn't know what features they had before and what they have now.

    Nice to know though that they have upgraded their features Microsoft finally decided to redesign Paint!

    It looks, let's say, a bit more modern than the previous version. I have used Paint to join two photos and make it one some time ago. I can't say i was successful and the fact that whenever I try to resize some pictures destroys the quality made me forget about it long time.
    The only thing that Paint is good at is to save screen captures. I don't know why I like this feature of it.

    But for the rest, I won't use it. It doesn't have any filters, and special effects and the text looks like scratches when applyed.

    I think microsoft seems to be taking on a lot of work. And they are competiting with some of the small players. And that way for example paint.net is another they compete with. So it does seem like a lot of things going on for them. I am not sure how many of such programs are reworked on. But for what it's worth, the new design and changes of the paint are indeed good. I'd definitely consider using instead of PS.

    It was Paint that I was using in the early years of the internet here. I was really amazed that I could do some drawing and sketches that easy. Although Paint was simple and easy to use, it was eclipsed by Adobe Photoshop in popularity after a few years in existence. As Photoshop was coming out with new versions, Paint remained the same and I’m glad to hear that they have some enhancements done on the graphic tool.
