Well, from an SEO point of view, it doesn't matter if you have one site or a thousand sites. Although having a thousand sites would be good to point to one site as part of a PBN. But what matters is whether you will be able to SEO that many sites. The more sites you have, the more SEO you'll need to do on each of them. The more time you'll need to invest, the more money you'll need to spend on doing the SEO for all of those sites. Now if you just have one site only. Then you'll only need to do SEO on that site. And since you wont need to do the same type of SEO on all of the sites, your time will be more freed up to do the other things you need to do like adding content, new products etc. Buying in stock and of course, selling it. Unless your site is just an affiliate site in which case you wouldn't really have to do any of that.

But you know, with SEO, there's no guarantees that the SEO you do on your site will be enough to get it ranking high or even higher than any competitor sites you have out there. For that reason, it's often good to have some other smaller sites or projects on the go as well. Those you put on the back burner and let them simmer while you work on your main project/site. That way if your main site doesn't rank or take off. You will still have your smaller sites/projects which you can work on in time as well to get them ranking high and earning.

But literally, the more sites you have, the more SEO you will have to do. The more time they will take from you. The more you'll have to invest and spend on SEO, content, design, marketing and promotion etc etc. But with just one site you wont have to spend as much on SEO and you wont have to invest as much time and money into it. But then you aren't really maximizing your potential either.

It's good to have a lot of sites if you don't have to spend much time and money on them. They can all help you earn more. Especially if you do have a lot of them and they are all earning something. For example. If you have 100 sites and each site is earning roughly $100 month earnings. That's $10,000 a month earnings. But only one site earning only $100 month is only $100 month.

The more sites you have. The more earnings you have. The more you can spend on SEO on those sites. From SEO point of view, which is better – one big site or several smaller site?

Well the more sites you have the more sources of income you have. In addition to that I think that no matter what you do some websites will do really well and others will just flunk. It is not always easy to predict in my opinion.

So the more you have the more chance of success you have.

However like Mike has said the more websites you have the more work you will be needing to do. Creating content, online marketing and SEO takes time and hard work. The more websites you have the more work you must do. Of course you could hire people to do the work for you.

It all depends on what you want to do. I have 3 websites and I do most of the work myself. It seems like I can only really put 100% into one website at a time and I am currently trying to create more balance.

If the content on both websites is similar, I recommend you have just one big website. Google started loving big content that can help potential users with all his questions without the need of searching more for the answer or the information the user is looking for.

It all depends on the content and how SEO friendly you make a site to be. I think that several small sites could help you diversify, and that could be beneficial as you are going to target more users who might be interested in different things or subjects. If however you have one big site you are going to focus solely on it, and that tends to deliver better results as you do not have to fragment neither your time, nor your efforts. So I think I would opt for one big site.

I guess it will depend on the purpose of those sites. One big site is good for an owner whose intention is to take it easy. A big site is easier to manage than the multiple sites even if they are small. The advantage of the small sites is their tenacity to be competitive since it is in the small league while a big site has to be more competitive owing to the size that competitors are also big. For me, I would choose just the big site and focus all my attention to it.
