    Twitter update and limit changes

    In the past the biggest problem I had with twitter was that adding pictures, gifs or videos would take a big portion of my very precious 140 characters.

    At the moment, these limits are no more! Twitter has started to roll up this update for all users so even if you don't yet benefit from this new feature, everyone will eventually have them.

    This update applies more specifically to any media attachments, like photos, gifs, videos, polls or not even quote tweets and retweeting your own tweets.

    It would be cool if usernames will also not be counted but Twitter is still testing this option apparently, which means at some point this will also be a thing, which is even better in my opinion.

    There have been a ton of times that I think I have the perfect tweet to pull people in and when I type it up it's way too long and then I have to take the next few minutes to edit it so it's understandable but will still convert. It's a lot more difficult than it sounds lmao Twitter update and limit changes Take a paragraph and reduce it down to 1 sentence but make it a good read and can also convince people to sign up Twitter update and limit changes

    If the limit is lifted, I wonder how long it will last, or will it be forever...
    I wonder if a users account has to meet a certain criteria in order to have access to longer posting. Like if you just registered a new account you wouldn't be able to post a paragraph since you're in a kind of probationary period and twitter wants to monitor your actions before setting you loose lol. Obviously there are plenty of seasoned accounts with tons of great tweets and I'm sure they are the select few which have been chosen for the bigger posting size. But there needs to be some limitation to this to avoid spam Twitter update and limit changes

    The best thing about this is that I can now post my tweet and add the actual link to my website and not a shortened URL. People will see mywebsite.com/blah/blahblah.html and not tinyurl or bit.ly Twitter update and limit changes Or will all URLs be converted by twitter so that they can still reduce the size of the tweets? not sure Twitter update and limit changes

    I think Twitter still converts your URL to a t.co URL unless you're using Bitly plugin, Even if the whole tweet is less than 140 characters. That's one thing about Twitter that I have always noticed and wished it didn't do. This is a good move by Twitter though. It will make Tweets much more interesting! Short tweets are like little snippet references to things and not the interesting thing in question. However by increasing the character count it will mean you are able to be much more creative in your Tweets. What would be really cool is if they allowed Markdown syntax to be used them you could format Tweets with bold text, links, images etc like Reddit but that might be overkill for a Tweet!? Lol

    I think these changes will be forever implemented as nobody is crying over them, basically, everybody is happy about these new updates!
    I still think that it's pretty sad that in 2016 we still have platforms limiting the number of characters you can post, but whatever, as I said, never been the biggest twitter fan around.

    Nooo. There is always at least one person that isn't happy with change for some reason! haha. No yeah that's it. That's what I'm saying. We're living in a much more liberated world today. A world where we have much more privileges than those of yesterdecades! A world with less chains and shackles and red tape! A more freer world where expression and being able to express yourself is an absolute must! What I've always been able to respect about Twitter from day 1 is their no clutter approach to sharing. Providing only 140 characters which is deemed enough space to say some sort of news headline or update on something and a link as well. And that's served Twitter well for years and meant it hasn't been spammed to death by cheap scraped spun articles. I really hope that doesn't happen if they roll this unlimited character update to everyone. I think for that reason, they should reserve it for established accounts only! Otherwise it could backfire on Twitter if that starts happening but I'm sure they see that logic.

    Yeah this is pretty interesting. Twitter have been dogged by not being very innovative lately. For launching services that people don't really need and for not being truly innovative. But they have really been defending their corner lately and doing what they can to keep Twitter an important and popular social media site. What with adding video to tweets just recently and now extending character count. Watching Twitter grow in this way has been like watching a caterpillar turn into a Chrysalis and then emerge as a beautiful butterfly lolol. Twitter update and limit changes

    Oh nice! The biggest thing that I struggled with when I started with Twitter was the limitation. I found it incredibly hard to get my message across when I only had 140 characters to use.

    It takes some time to get your head around this and even though I have managed to work around it, it would still be so nice to get some more room to add things that I feel are necessary for my Tweets.

    I haven't seen any changes my side yet, but being in South Africa we will probably be last as usual to get access to new updates LOL
