What happens to exisiting customers when you change subscription price?

If I offer a subscription package and I already have customers, what happens to their subscription price when I change my price. For example, if customer A buys my service at $25 and then I increase the price to $30, will the customer keep paying $25 or will it increase to $30?

Thanks.

Hi MasterA. I think I know the answer to this one! What happens to exisiting customers when you change subscription price? Your clients subscription is with PayPal (although initiated through your SEOClerks service). So even if you change the price of the subscription in your SEOClerks service, your clients current subscription will stay the same price and they will stay subscribed unless they unsubscribe with PayPal.

So yes, they will keep on paying whatever the price was at the time they subscribed. It would be good if it was possible to change the price that they pay by just changing the service price. If there was some agreement on that some connection between SEOClerks API and PayPal. But the agreement subscription price can't be changed from SEOClerks.

I think the only thing they can do is cancel that subscription and then sign up again to it so they will be charged the new price. But I'm not sure if you can cancel people's subscriptions from PayPal. I think they have to do it them self from within their PayPal account.

You probably wouldn't want to force unsubscribe them anyway. Just in case they didn't resubscribe. Better to have them and keep them paying the old price rather than potentially loose them by "upsetting the apple cart" if you know what I mean. But it's up to you. What happens to exisiting customers when you change subscription price?

Hope this helps though and doesn't ask more questions than it answers!? What happens to exisiting customers when you change subscription price?

Mike.

Thanks for your answer Mike. Do you know how you can track your subscriptions? I guess you know they canceled it if you stop getting orders within the time frame but is there a list of active subscribers on SEO Clerks?

You can check out your active subscriptions here: seoclerks.com/manage_orders?s=subscriptions

Basically, in the seoclerks.com /manage_orders you also have a "Subscription" tab, look for it.

I actually have never sold a subscription based service on here before but I did create a new one the other day. You can track who you have subscribed (sold a subscription based service to) from your sales / subscribe tab. I don't know if you can track them on PayPal though. I know if you have a subscription that's set up with Paypal, you can cancel it from PayPal (as a buyer). But I don't know if you can view/manage who you have subscribed as well. I think there's something though so you can see. Have a look and let me know. Cheers!

You can't see the people that have subscription payments in paypal. At least I've haven't seen such options when I sold subscription orders. I actually had 9 subscription orders overall here on SC, one of them had continued for over 2 years as far as I remember.
I think they were usually canceled from the buyer's paypal account.

Oh that is interesting and something I wanted to know as a buyer because I am interested in subscribing to some services here. I was interested to know whether if the seller changes the subscription price how it would all work.

I'm not sure, but I think they will be charged each month with the same price when they subscribed to your service. I've never tried to sell any subscription service so I'm not sure how it works. However, I know that all subscriptions orders can be easily found on paypal, and you can check the if the billing cycle has changed for your existing customers.

The price that he will pay will be $25 as it was in the initial subscription. You are doing the subscription to PayPal for a service that is operated through Seoclerks. Unless the users are cancelling the initial subscription and reorder it on another occasion, then they will pay the new price you've set.
