    Using Affiliate Links on Twitter and LinkedIn

    I have never tried, but I have heard that Facebook doesn’t like SeoClerks links… so I wanted to try Twitter. How do SeoClerks links go down on Twitter and LinkedIn?

    And my next question, I have posted some affiliate links on Twitter and LinkedIn before without any problems. I am sure that spamming social networks with affiliate links is not a great idea, but to send out just a few… will that cause a problem?

    I have also heard that sharing any affiliate links on Google Plus results in accounts being banned very easily.

    What are your thoughts in sharing the odd affiliate links on social media?

    Well Twitter is a fest for affiliate links. The first every tweet on Twitter many years ago was probably an affiliate link. Since twitter is dominated by marketers and affiliate marketers (more than it is personal users), virtually every other tweet has a shortened affiliate link in it. But just sending a few tweets wont cause you a problem no. But you wouldn't want every of your tweets to use affiliate links in them. Sometimes it's good to tweet stuff that isn't trying to get a sale through your affiliate link and is just a tweet to say something like "Having a bad hair day today" or something like "I saw an Eagle today" or something like that. Something that is related to what your Twitter account is about. Just mix it up! Don't always post tweets with affiliate links in them, post personal tweets, ask questions, post pictures, videos that kind of thing and an amongst them all. If all of your tweets have affiliate links in them people will get peed off and end up unfollowing you.

    As for Google Plus, it really depends on how much you're posting them. If people see you're posting nothing but affiliate links then they may decide to report you just because they're a competitor or something. But some people use Google+ religiously and for personal reasons and don't like to see people posting affiliate stuff to their beloved Google+ communities. But you can still post them, just don't do it too much and try to post other stuff that is related to that community and drop them in every now and then. Or when you do put them, put them along with a link that isn't an affiliate link as well so they have a choice. And use lots of #hashtags as well.

    But both these sites were created and set up both for personal and business users and reasons alike. So the personal users know this and live along side it. So the odd post with an affiliate link in it isn't necessarily spammy. Just make sure to post good content in the posts you create. Ask questions and provide something valuable to those users of that community. Use call to actions and always respond to peoples comments and get the activity flowing from that post and they wont mind as much. Some people just post an affiliate link and don't say anything about it. That's the worse thing to do!

    Seriously? I heard that if you post just one affiliate link on Google Plus your Google days are just about over LOL

    So for that reason I have only ever posted my content to Google Plus. I also set up Mass Planner software with all my social networks, including Google Plus and everything worked great for all my social networks but Google Plus gave me a warning.They said I had violated one of their rules. The thing though is that I was oh so careful too. I only set the software to post my own content once a day?

    Anyway that is why my original question I didn't include Google Plus LOL

    Yeah, Facebook really dose hate SC for some reason. Apparently affiliates spammed facebook to death and facebook banned SC.
    I personally don't recommend twitter, never had any success there.

    LinkedIn may work! But you need a unique approach and a good marketing idea.

    I have had problems trying to share my SEOClerks affiliate links via Twitter. I kept getting a message that my links “appear to be” from an automated system and therefore the system blocked me from sharing via Twitter. I was manually trying to tweet. (O.o) To this day, I haven't figured out what the problem is!

    I have never tried sharing them via Facebook or LinkedIn because I got confused with the Twitter error message. (O.o)

    Spamming anywhere will cause a problem. But sharing affiliate links via your social media profile might be frowned upon by your friends and family. However, I don't see how regular sharing via your social media business page could cause a problem. After all, you are trying to make money!

    However, to be on the safe side. I make full disclosure in accordance with FTC guidelines, either on my profile's About tab or some place visible so that visitors will know that my posts may contain affiliate links.

    I have been a G+ user since this social network began and have shared affiliate links to my profile and business pages. Only had one instance where an affiliate link was shared and it disappeared! Like it was ZAPPED! I don't know why it happened, but I stopped sharing those particular links.

    My final “odd thoughts" would be regarding Pinterest and Tumblr. Neither social network will ban you or delete your account unless you are using it for the specific purpose of affiliate marketing and nothing else. You can go to their FAQ or Help for specific guidance. I am only giving you advice based on my experience.

    My Pinterest was converted from a personal to a business account and I have not had any problems with the affiliate links that I pinned as far Pinterest saying that I was violating their rules. Although certain ones got blocked by Pinterest and I can't explain why. They were flagged as spam. It happens with some links but not with others. Can't explain why. I just don't do it! (O.o) (???)

    My Tumblr is a microblog, which is awesome for social sharing, allows sharing affiliate links in two different ways: via a post or via a page. Both work and both are allowed. WARNING! (MY Pain, Your Gain.) I have had a Tumblr account deleted. Was told that one of the reasons was that I was spamming. I gave the Tumblr folks a “cooling off period”. Then went back and created a brand new account. My old deleted Tumble account had been set up with my Gmail address. By this time I went back to beg forgiveness and try again, the site had been acquired by YAHOO! and my new account had to be created using a YAHOO email address. Now Tumblr is owned by Verizon and I don't know what's going to happen. For now, Tumblr is showing their ads on my blogs and I am allowed to share my own affiliate links. I'm assuming as long I don't crazy with ONLY sharing affiliate links and nothing else, I'll be able to publish my blogs!

    The major thing I would suggest is to try to ensure that you follow the rules and regulations guiding each of these social media sites them. I think contacting the admins can also help in this.

    Until now I have never shared ny seoclerk affiliate links. However, I will soon start promoting SEO clerks on my website and blogs. Since I own these websites and blogs, there will be no problem. However, I hear that facebook does not accept affiliate links. If that is a case, cannot we use shortened links
