What do you prefer, complex word or simple word for content writing?

Hi I always believe that readers always feel more comfort when he/she understands any content easily while reading. And I think this is a successful work for a content or article writer when reader will understand any content easily and reply back by his opinion.

And as per as I know communication, English is not too hard. Because of for interaction to anyone, we are use most easy and most useable word. So, content or article another way of communication to visitors.
Is not it?

If we watch BBC or CNN news, they mostly use very easy and useful words. And I feel they use easy word because, their audience is from all over the world, both English or non English speakers.
So, why would a content writer not need to care about it?

I have seen many content writers use so many complex word for showing of smartness. I think they may feel, if they write complex word, audience may understand he has lot of knowledge of English or on that topic.
Is it true?

Reality is audience feels bored of reading such types of complex content.
On the other side, if writer insists on simple words for writing content, reader may attract more for content to content.
Is this not so?

What do you think?

As per I know lol. At the end of the day, it's better to talk in a language that your readers or intended audience can understand. If you use too many long and complicated words, acronyms and abbreviations and things like that then you could alienate your readers. Also you could give off the impression that you're trying to impress people with your long and complex and complicated words. Basically it's like you're talking down to people and assuming that everyone is as literate as you are and nobody likes being spoken down to and left feeling as though they don't know what you're talking about.

So it's best to strike a good balance of layman terms and words that people can understand. But it really depends what you're talking about. If you're talking about something like SEO then most people in the SEO niche will know about all the words connected to that and around that. But if you're talking about Rocket Science then that's going to have a lot of long and complex and complicated words associated with it. But again, anyone that's an actual Rocket Scientist will be able to understand what you're talking about including the words you're using in your content too. I guess at the end of the day, you have to write for your readers. You'll want to use the right balance of words in your content. But also try to remain neutral for your other readers that might not be able to understand it. Or speak in layman terms they can understand.

Some things just have complex words and there is no real way of using anything else. Especially when it comes to high tech stuff like Smartphones in fact. When it comes to that, there are still words I'm still learning. But I think they think that it's tough if you don't understand it and they're not going to change their words and make it easier for you to understand.

That's what Wikipedia is for! What do you prefer, complex word or simple word for content writing?

As much i know what me and others like, it's WE LIKE IT SIMPLE. So when it comes to get into peoples mind it's best to be simple and straight forward in most cases. People like to be spoken in simple language as they can understand you every word you say. Unlike you can see some hard to understand regulations, terms of services, privacy policies etc where is used some official law figures and language which can be really annoying to read sometime. So i stick to SIMPLE

I think the simpler the better. Why try and be "smart" and lose readers? I'm certainly no fan of having to stop reading every few lines to look up the meaning of a word and I am English speaking. I have found that I really detest reading content that use long words that I don't understand.

I tried to read My Booky Wook by Russell Brand and I found it awful, that is a perfect example of someone writing using big words that most people don't understand. I could not even read his book, I gave up after 2 chapters and I am an avid reader that does not easily put down a book. I will usually push through. The interesting thing is if you watch him on Youtube he does not speak in the same way that he wrote that book.

I believe it is important to write in the same way that you speak, in this was you keep your writing natural and in keeping with your style and personality.

I replied to a similar discussion just yesterday where basically we commented on the fact that the simpler the words are the better it is. Using big words is not recommended as most people are not going to be native english speakers. As a writer you need to be clear and concise, while retaining the readers' attention, helping them understand what you are saying, and increasing your chances that readers will read throughout the article, and possibly share it too. If it is too technical they are not going to do that.

I am native English speaking and I consider myself to have a very good vocabulary and sometimes I get completely confused by the way people write. If an English person cannot read it then it is truly awful.

I personally love fancy words and fancy writing, but only the high-quality fancy. Not the kind you just write for the heck of it.
Mediocrity content you can find all over the place.

It also depends on the type of content. If you write a tutorial, make it straight to the point, easy to follow, simple and cute.

when you are writing content, you are not writing it for intellectuals or experts, you are writing for a common man. Since you are writing for common man, you should always write in a way that it is easily understood by your target audience. Therefore, you should use simple words, always avoid complex words.

I am not a literary writer and my strength in writing is in using simple words which are common. As a reader, I hate to be looking at the dictionary for word meanings or phrases often. It's all right to come across a complex or uncommon word once in a while, maybe up to 3 in one article, but if the uncommon words are a lot then that would surely make me miss the thought of the article for what I would have is the study of new words. I admit that my vocabulary is not that big but I can still write in a nice way to express my thoughts... with simple words and phrases.

I've been writing for some time now and I have to admit that using simple words is the way to go for it would enable your articles to reach so many readers as well as making them participate in the discussion on what they think about what you have written. Some writers sometimes make the wrong assumption that using big words make their article look mature and all that without knowing that they have in a way excluded some people from grasping what the write-up is talking about. It is all about communication and that is what every writer should thrive to pass through.

You are right about people getting bored with write ups that contain complex words. Personally, I prefer simple words for content writing. The main purpose of writing is to inform. How can you inform if you use complex words? It's not only boring, but it's also a jargon to people. It's hard to relate with contents that you are not familiar with. The job of the writer is to inform by simplifying complex words and by making them more friendly where readers can relate. Besides, not all people are native English speakers. Using simple words makes it easier for everyone to understand the message the writer wants to portray while the readers get to enjoy reading the article.

I think using simple word is lot better. It gets the point across. And you learn how to get the most out of the content writing this way. I have realized that some of the time content writing may not be easy as well. I think for those who are into non fiction they can make use of the complex writing in their draft. But most of the time the simple you write easier it is for many of us. And that's something we have to learn as we are trying to understand the base of the things. So for fiction writing that is something every one should consider.

I try as much as possible to use very simple words and terms.Any word that seems complex I make sure to break it down. As a writer for people to read we should always assume that the readers might not want to use Google or dictionary to check up.So if we don't want our content to be bypass because of use of words then we should do the needful to use the less complicated word.

I prefer using simple, easy to understand words in my writing because it can easily be understood by readers. Also the simpler the content the more people can understand it.
