Is it possible to establish business relationships?

i know a lot of times some us might need help to get work done or certain kinds of work that you know you don't normally handle yourself and I know in past conversations people have recommended not getting to comfortable with out sourcing with one person but my thing is would it be possible to possibly become partners with the person you out source with if they do a good job and prices are low could you establish some kind of partner ship were you'd be able to take more jobs of the same kind and make it to your benefit on working with this person on multiple projects after establishing a relationship or is it best to keep my options open ?

It would have to depend on how much you're paying the outsourcer, and how much they are willing to do for the pay that is agreed upon. Normally at times you can work out a deal with an outsourcer and they will be able to keep the deal, the price of service, and quality. In other times, it can become quite tricky and troublesome because sometimes the outsourcer will feel that they will need to be paid more to continue working with you.

This has happened to me in the past, and I'm absolutely certain it will happen again, just make sure you tell your outsourcer up front about the payment plans, and how much you're willing to pay for them to perform your work for you. If they disagree, than you can find someone else. You could also write a contract that both parties would need to sign.

Yes I can see how this would become tricky, especially if you take up all of the freelancers time so much so that they cannot complete jobs for other people. I agree with what Everett has said there, it will need to be carefully discussed and agreed upon and a contract signed.

Oh I definitely understand that. I am wondering if making some sort of contract though, with your partner or soon to be partner stating the amount they will be paid and how long the contract is to last for....maybe that is something I can consider if i ever end up partnering up with anybody. Thanks for the feedback guys!!

I was not considered an outsource when I was submitting blogs as a co-blogger. But with the earnings that I get, it is clear that I was an outsourced assistant. My take on the business partnership is about a healthy relationship between the outsourced assistant and the boss. If they appear as friends then that is the best relationship since they will be open and there is no antagonism. It is not common for the boss to be bossy and for the outsourced to be antagonistic but it happens sometimes.

Yes I do think collaborations can happen. A freelancer friend of mine got his big break when one of his usual clients offered him a a good deal. They opened up an outsourcing business a type of call center here in the Philippines, now they've got a hundred online workers doing customer support and he's getting a good share of the profit
