    Would You Rather Get Videos In Your Product Or An Actual DVD?

    This question is really simple. If you purchase a product. Let's say a video course. Would you rather get the videos in a package, urls for videos on Youtube for instance, or would you want a DVD with all the videos?

    I've never sold a DVD, but I've had thoughts of doing this.. Not as the only product, but as a "special offer" the client could choose to get instead of videos in a large package or urls for the videos. Like a "Platinum Package" or something.

    Well, you probably understand what I mean..

    So, as a client, what would you prefer? Downloadable content, urls for the videos so you can watch them online or a DVD?

    I would prefer a online link where I could download the file(s) and then burn to disk if needed.

    Thank you Webguy2024 for your reply. I have to say that I agree with you on this. It would be better to provide the actual videos directly or download links for them. However, there are several people out there selling their "supercool" DVD bundles.. At rather large costs.. Do you think they get any orders?

    I would prefer to be able to view them online. I like it when there is a written tutorial and a video that I can check out online, so maybe like a members area where people can log in and find all their training.

    I think DVDs are out, by a long way. They can get scratched, damaged or lost... and it is just a pain in the ***. It is much easier to just do it online. The plus side too is that if you want to update something you can, so for example if you provide training on a certain topic and something becomes outdated you could update that video and someone that purchased your training before the update can then have access to it, this could be a good selling point maybe?

    Thank you Lynne, I appreciate your reply and I agree with you. DVDs are out, but one can still see tons of people selling their courses on DVDs. For something like $197. Do you think they get orders or do you believe they are doing this, just to "look good" so to speak?

    It's "cool" to provide something unique like that. Competitors doesn't offer the same things.. But do they really get any orders for this?

    I doubt they actually make sales. I don't buy dvds at all anymore. I don't even buy movies on dvd anymore. We have DSTV, we record the newish movies and kids movies on PVR and once a week we watch a movie on Box Office if there is something good on.

    So even though we have a dvd player we don't use it anymore really.

    My feeling is that dvds are on the way out, just like records made way for cassettes and then cassette tapes and floppy discs made way for cd's and dvd's..... now it will all be online. I think they will be redundant sooner than anyone realizes.

    this all falls on the client by the end of the day , in all honesty though id have to give a completely honest opinion in saying that depending on weather or not your client is or comfortable with hard copy or digital is what is the deciding factor on weather DVDs or URLs are better. for example someone who is a little more behind on times might not be as comfortable with the thought of URLs as too someone who is working with high speed Internet and multiple online resources and tools being taken to full advantage during the process

    Hey jkeyz2,
    It sure would be my client decision whether or not to have my product on a DVD instead of downloadable content.. But due to all people who offers their courses and other products on DVDs, I've started to wonder.. Do these people make any money off of this, or is it just a cool thing to offer your clients? Just to appear like a more "established" business or seller or whatever the reason might be? What's your thoughts on this?

    I guess the DVD is getting obsolete now and it’s the USB stick that is replacing it. When we bought our laptop last year, I was shocked to find that it has no more dvd drive even if there was a slot. The dealer said that the DVD is being phased out. With regards to courses, I think the streaming or downloadable version is the most convenient for the student so the DVD couldn’t compete with that.
