More and more people are downloading and are using an Adblocker extension, or add-on with their browsers. Sites now use some preventive measures to get their websites visitors and/or traffic to turn off the adblocker by blocking their content, or by using annoying popups to ask you to turn off the adblocker while visiting the site. Do you support the website by disabling your adblocker for websites that ask you to turn the adblocker off, or do you keep the Adblocker enabled? Have you ever experienced this type of behavior when viewing your favorite websites? Do you use an adblocker? If you don't use an adblocker, what is your reason?

If a reputable website asks me to add them to my authorized websites within my adblocker I may do it. Normally if I get asked to lift the limitation from a website that I've never heard of I just laugh and close the tab :D
I understand that websites make a good amount of revenue from their ads and I will support the ones I like and also trust. But if for some reason I land on IwillTakeYourInfoAndYourIdentity.com and they ask me to remove my ad block.... I'm not going to :D
It's understandable when some websites ask you to remove it because they use third party advertising platforms and on some of these there are people paying a lot of money to get a small banner on all the pages. By having ad blocker activated you will not see any of these ads and the advertiser will see the amount of impressions shown within their dashboard. If half of the traffic going to the site has adblocker active then the impressions may only show 50% of what the admin was saying the advertiser would get. It would make the admin look like he's inflating his numbers in order to get a sale. And I know from experience that it is extremely difficult to get your money back from a bad ad because each month a websites impressions can sky rocket or drop into a pit and come up the next month. So getting your money back for a bad month isn't likely :(

Another thing to consider is not all sites ask you to disable AdBlock because they have ads. But because certain parts of their site may not work properly. Just the other day I was having an issue on some affiliate site where the links were not loading. I found out that it was because of Adblock and that's not an isolated case either I've had that happen to me before or sometimes I'll be using a site and it will ask me to unblock because certain parts of the site might not load or work properly with it enabled so in cases like that I might disable it too or simply have to in some cases to see what I want to see that's being blocked by AdBlock but isn't really an ad. It's not flawless. It's aggressive though and that's cool with me. :)

Now in actual response to your other questions Do you use an adblocker? If you don't use an adblocker, what is your reason?
Yes I do use one and believe it should be built into every web browser by default and heavily policed and updated to block the latest ads because quite frankly, we can live without them. There are other ways to make money from your website other than by forcing people to view all manner of ads they might not have any control over by all sorts of advertisers that could be up to nothing. Also ads slow down browsing time, increase browser resources, use up unnecessary bandwidth and HDD space and make web browsing a worser experience. However I do understand that some ads that are relevant and blend in aren't that bad and that's fine to an extent. I don't mind the occasional ad if it's actually valuable and relevant to whatever I'm reading or looking at. But it's when they're shoved in my face from every angle and and just generally annoy and distract me is when ads just get old and enough is enough! But publishers and advertisers get greedy and put them in as many places as they can on their sites on every page mostly and it can put a lot of people off from using that site.
So that's my general reason why I have one and it's enabled. I do disable it for some sites though because even though it blocks ads, it can also interfere with the way some sites work and prevent them from working properly so in which case you have to then. Or if there's a site that I've found particularly helpful to me and visit often and find value in it and like the owner. Then I'll disable it for them as that's one way of paying them back of course. But as said, there are other ways people can make money with their site rather than using ads.
Anyway, here's something controversial, the AdBlock saga was on TV recently on BBC Click and they were saying that AdBlock are now taking payments from websites to be EXCLUDED from their block list. So that way, even if you have it enabled for that site it wont matter and the ads will still show. What do you think about this move by AdBlock to do that and take payments from sites so they can be excluded by AdBlock? Well this is quite a touchy subject it would seem a very interesting question and the short answer is no. Not generally for some site I've never been on before anyway. However it depends. I understand why sites ask you to do it. Because it will be helpful to the site if I see or click on their ads so that they can have a site that I can even visit in the first place. But it all depends on that site and how valuable I find that site to me.
