Greetings to you all!!
I just finished reading a thread about horror movies and writing about them...
It got me thinking, and wondering what scary flicks tickle your fancy!!
I have ohhhh soooo many....
Hmmmm.... Where to begin?!

The Shining is the scariest movie of all time! That scene with the little girls in the hall gives me creeps everytime. Really big fan of old movies, by the way.

I love supernatural horror movies, more than slasher types. And, I've seen The Shining at least a dozen times. I like the supernatural/undead aspects of that movie.

Have you seen The Fourth Kind? It is AWESOME!!! Another one was The Mothman Prophecies (Richard Gere); it's inspired by true events. The Exorcism Of Emily Rose was a great movie too, as it was also based on true events. The Conjuring was wickedly spectacular, and based on true events...lol
I LOVE movies inspired by a true story! Any suggestions for a great movie to watch? @[USER=167800]Asmodeus[/USER] and I are going to go see Deliver Us From Evil tomorrow night :)

omg! Yes, Mothman Prophecies! I have seen this at least five times. And, I love it. Some of my favorite people are in that movie I love any movie that has supernatural horror that is based on real events. For me, the horror always feels more real especially when I know that real people went through these events (or something similar). There is a ring of truth about it. Let me know how your movie goes, what you think of it. :)
The original author of Mothman Prophecies book, published in the 1970's is also the one that coined the phrase, "men in black" I found that out when researching him on Amazon :)

Im gonna keep it real, Michael Myers.
he didnt play around in my nightmares as a kid lol i could never run fast enough to get away from him and eventually just end up sitting in my own dream like a dunce waiting for michael to catch up (since he only walks as u may not have noticed lol)
always brings back some good memories from childhood tho :P

Good ol' Michael Myers. Of course the originals, NOT the remake, as I absolutely HATED the remake. I loved all the Halloween movies, they were truly EPIC in the day.
And, yes... Awesome observation... He did just walk... Funny how that is...LOL

No, it wasn't based on true events. Hannibal Lecter was created by researching behaviors of other serial killers. The novel was written in 1988, and the movie was made in 1991.
One of my interests which fascinates me to no end is serial killers. The psychology, the behavior, the research that has gone into such a nightmarish thing is intriguing. I have numerous books and dvd sets surrounding this very thing. Watching the documentaries on a few of the below mentioned, had made me sick; particularly Albert.
Albert Fish was one of the first known cannibals. I had heard of him as the Brooklyn Vampire but there are a couple of names for him. What he had done was incomprehensible and sickening.
Andrei Chikatilo was Russian and I heard of him as the "Red Ripper". He had confessed to 56 murders, being women and children.
Another serial killer was Ed Gein. Known for being a body snatcher, he would exhume bodies from their graves to have their trophies.
For some reason my margins are off and I can't fix them...lol Oh well, moving on...
Jeffery Dahmer, to my knowledge is the last known cannibal (correct me if I'm wrong). He's a serial killer and sex offender. 17 men and boys were murdered.
When you read about each one, and how their behavior was at the time, compared with their behavior while inside , it's astonishing how Anthony Hopkins was able to pull off such a character. Absolutely amazing, however scarily transforming. He is an actor who takes his role very seriously, and goes over his scenes, literally hundreds of times, until he gets it the way he wants it.
Brilliant and terrifying was his goal, and he succeeded.

These real life monsters create more horror than anything a writer could ever dream up. Maybe that's why they make for good movies, when watching part of you says, 'hey! this is real!' and yeah that makes it more horrifying because you know not only could this kind of thing happen in real life, but it already has.
