    Has your web host ever been hacked?

    A friend of mine, who is running a Minecraft server, had his web host hacked. He lost much of his site as well as his back ups and had to start from scratch with the Minecraft server.

    Considering how much money and time he put into his hosting and building the site, it was a really big loss.

    Has your web host ever been hacked? And, if so, were you able to recover anything lost due to the hacking?

    Yes. And, I lost many posts from my forum when it happened. I was away on vacation and couldn't respond to the emails being sent by my hosting company so I didn't know I needed to download and backup for that time. I was able to use a previous backup to put my forum back up on another host site. But we lost several hundred new posts.

    When I first signed on with my host company, they were just upgrading their security. At first, my forum was down for a full day. But after that, I noticed there was less spam and down time. Thankfully, they are prepared against hacker attacks.

    I don't know how to run a web host. It scares me every time, I think about having my own server. I have only 1 website and that is hosted on Arvixe. I never had such a problem.

    No.I prefer to pay $10-12 per month for high quality web hosting provider than $1-3 for low quality with such problems.
