    Is there any way to barter or trade for paid hosting. I don't want to settle for free hosting and a lack of benefits.

    Some forums have a paid to post forum where payment is via forum credits you can use for website hosting. This could be one option if you want feature rich free hosting.

    Another option is signing up as an affiliate for Bluehost through CJ, as they allow you to buy through your own link, so you would get almost all your money back from the affiliate commission, as they pay something like 80%.
