    What would you lose if someone stole your domain name?

    What's the worst that could happen if someone guesses your password and logged into your account and transferred your domain or in other ways tampered with it?

    Obviously, you would lose access to your site. How would you get to your site anymore if the TLD was gone? It would be a nightmare for anyone, especially if they had invested money or years.

    Assuming you could even prove the domain belonged to you, you might or might not be able to get it back. And, in addition to losing any money invested, you would lose backlinks and SEO done for that particular domain.

    If you lose your domain name you will lose access to your website as well as ownership to your domain. Therefore you should always secure your account on your domain registrar with a strong password.
