What are bookmarking in SMM?

Hello everyone!

I've been seeing "social bookmarking" when anything related to SEO/SMM but I don't understand what it means. Does it mean bookmark the webpage?

Can anyone explain?

My idea of bookmarking in social media is the posting of your site’s link on your timeline and also on Facebook Pages and Facebook Groups. I am not an authority on this but I am commenting so others can validate if what I said is correct. Anyway, social bookmarking is recognized by search engines so that when you post in social media then you get a bookmark that can help your site’s ranking in the search list.
