Of course, there are lots of people using Twitter successfully for blog/site promotion. That is where you post a headline and then a link. But that's just advertising.
But if you think about it, the confined space in which you can make a tweet, poses a real challenge. It's not like a blog post, where you can expand your idea. Brevity and conciseness is the key to a good Tweet, not to mention, keeping it relevant to your target audience.
Is it actually possible to relay educational tips on your niche via Twitter?
For instance, if you had a beauty blog, could you really give a beauty tip in 14o characters or less?
"For clump free mascara store your tube in the fridge."
So there's one that would easily fit in a tweet.
How about internet marketing? Does this idea of posting useful, educational tips work for any other niche?
Could you make a tweet that your readers could learn from? Maybe share a few sample tweets like this.
Of course, I do think people do learn from my tweets, especially those who are into the same interest and niche.
If you can't put the whole "tips" thing on your tweet, you can still link them to your blog where they could read more.

Of course, Twitter is a good traffic generation device and can be used for backlinking. But it would be nice if people put more effort into making the tweets informational. In internet marketing, you have to give generously, not just backlink to show your readers you care about their interests.

Are you sure the tweets aren't archived? I'm pretty sure all tweets are assigned their own page. But they do roll off the home page or profile page of the person posting them. And, i'm saying that as i've actually found individual tweets in the past. But then again, i was searching for specific keywords. Maybe that makes a difference.

Yeah they are archived. You just need to go through your past tweets to get what you are looking for.
But I once read that Google cannot take "social signals" from Twitter since the site already blocked them from doing so. Is that true?

So Google can't crawl these pages anymore? Not just crawl the links going offsite, but literally they can't access any of the pages? Do you have an article confirming this?

Hey Beverly. I agree with you. If the peoples doing informational tweets and re-tweets so that peoples can read, appreciate, follow that. It's also nice for the reputation growth for that particular person.
